His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 113

For a moment, surprise flickered in Annika’s eyes when she saw Conrad, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared. She stared out the window at the passing streetscape, her heart as still as a frozen lake. She didn't say a single word to him all the way back to the villa.

Conrad ran a frustrated hand through his hair as he followed her inside.

“Annika!” Lana cried, overcome with relief. “I was so worried.”

Then, turning to Conrad, she said, “Thank you, Mr. Beryl.”

Although Lana was still upset about how Conrad indulged Serena, she was grateful that he had rushed to the police station the moment he heard Annika was in trouble.

“You ended up in a place like that and didn't even think to call me,” Conrad grumbled.

Hadn’t he told her to call if she needed anything? If he had been any later, she might not have gotten out. Most of the evidence pointed to her, and the police had only agreed to release her as a favor to him.

Annika ignored his complaint. She glanced at the stubble darkening his jaw and sneered inwardly. Just one night, and he already looked this rundown. He must have been truly worried sick about Serena’s disappearance.
