His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 114

Conrad was in his office when his phone buzzed with a notification from the security feed linked to his house. He flipped over the phone. In the dim light of the video, he couldn't see Annika's expression, but he saw her collapsed on the floor. His heart leaped into his throat.

Conrad shot up from his chair, grabbing his jacket. Just as he was about to bolt from the office, he heard a cry through the speaker.

“Annika!”

The hallway lights flashed on, and Lana, throwing a coat over her shoulders, rushed out of her room. She helped Annika into a chair.

Annika's face was as white as a sheet. Lana was about to call for help when Annika stopped her.

“Call this number,” Annika said, handing Lana her phone.

Lana glanced at the number on the screen, her eyes wide with bewildered shock. “Annika,” the maid stammered, “I don’t think this is a good idea.”

“Call it,” Annika bit out through clenched teeth. “Now.”

She grimaced, her brow furrowed in pain.

With trembling fingers, Lana dialed the number. The call connected almost instantly. After a moment, Lana said frantically, “Mr. Stetson, Annika’s going into labor.”

After another brief pause, she nodded. “Okay, we’ll wait for you.”

The blood drained from Conrad's knuckles as he clenched his fist, the sharp edges of his nails digging into his palm. The look of alarm on his face slowly froze into a mask of ice, his deep eyes swirling with a furious storm. He slowly lowered his jacket, took out a cigarette, and lit it with a sharp click of his lighter.

His own wife, in a perilous moment of childbirth, was calling another man instead of him. It was a slap in the face, a profound humiliation. Hearing Lana say “Mr. Stetson” hit him like a punch to the gut.

Before his cigarette had even burned halfway down, he saw a tall, hurried figure appear on the screen. It was, indeed, Tyler Stetson.
