His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 123

"It's been raining all day, so we're fully booked," the receptionist explained. Her eyes then shifted to the man who had just walked in behind Annika. She stood up straight. "Mr. Beryl, welcome back."

Annika turned and found herself staring into Conrad’s deep, dark eyes. He didn’t even glance at her, addressing the receptionist directly. "My keycard."

The receptionist smiled apologetically at Annika. "I'm sorry, miss, but the keycard in your hand is for Mr. Beryl's room. Could you please give it to him?"

Annika’s mouth twitched in annoyance. What a ridiculous coincidence. She handed the card to Conrad, who took it without a word or a look in her direction and strode toward the elevators.

"Wait!" Annika cried out. "I still have things in there!"

Clutching her backpack, she ran after him.

Just as Conrad swiped the card and entered the room, Annika slipped in behind him. His eyes fell on her as she rushed to the closet, swiftly removing her clothes from a hanger. Among them was a set of pink lingerie, the sight of which sent a faint ripple through him.

"Don't look!" Annika’s face flushed with shame as she saw him staring at her underwear. She wanted the floor to swallow her whole. Though they had been married for two years, their relationship had been mostly cold, and she had always made a point of keeping her personal items out of his sight, believing a little mystery was good for a marriage.

"Is there any part of you I haven't seen?" Conrad’s unexpected remark made her face burn even hotter. Mortified, she shoved the underwear into her backpack and turned to leave, but his cold voice stopped her. "Here to scout the Peach Resort project?"

"Yes," she mumbled.

"Did Harvey not come with you?" he pressed. Did she have any idea how dangerous it was for a woman to be alone in such a remote area?

"No."
