His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 124

"You're insane!" Annika yelled at the closed door, rubbing her hip where the door had almost hit her. She stood miserably under the hotel awning, staring up at the drizzling rain. Just as she was about to make a run for it, a woman's voice called out from behind her.

"Ms. Sargent, wait!"

Annika turned to see the receptionist. "Yes?"

"Ms. Sargent, a guest just checked out. We have a room for you now."

Conrad had put her in a foul mood, but the receptionist's words were like a ray of sunshine. Her luck had turned around after all.

After getting her new keycard, Annika went to find her room, only to discover it was directly across the hall from Conrad's. The gloom settled back over her. She really didn't want to see him again.

Inside, she took a shower and was drying her hair when her phone rang. It was Wayne, her project manager. He told her he'd run into an old classmate from college, a brilliant guy named Jordan Farley who worked as a high-earning business analyst.

Annika thought that connecting with someone like that could be beneficial for Sargent Group's future, so after getting ready, she went to meet them at a karaoke bar.

Southern Seafall City's economy was still developing, so the karaoke bar was a far cry from the high-end clubs in the city.

Wayne's old classmate, Jordan Farley, was handsome and charming, with both looks and talent in spades, though he seemed a bit of a player. The moment he saw Annika, his eyes practically stuck to her, his attitude warm and attentive.

Annika chatted with them, initially declining any alcohol, but Jordan was persistent. Not wanting to be rude at their first meeting, she agreed to have a few drinks.
