His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 171

Annika quickly bent down to coax the child.

That evening, when Monroe woke up, Annika picked him up to play, her eyes sparkling. These days, nothing interested her besides her son. After packing his things, she lugged the bag in one hand and carried Monroe on her hip, and then headed downstairs.

Just as she was about to walk out of the manor’s main hall, Nolan stepped forward and said respectfully, “Ms. Sargent, allow me.”

With that, Nolan reached for the bag in Annika’s hand. But Annika didn’t budge.

Since she wouldn’t let go, Nolan couldn’t exactly snatch the bag from her. He frowned, looking at her. “Ms. Sargent, Mr. Beryl instructed me to escort you and Monroe back to Scent Haven. He said he’ll be back tonight.”

Annika’s gaze fell. She brushed past Nolan and refused him coldly. “We’re not going back to Scent Haven. We’re going to the Sargent Villa. If you’re going to give us a ride, then please take us to the Sargent Villa.”

After hearing from a maid that Annika was taking Monroe downstairs, Yazmin rushed out of her room. Annika heard the hurried footsteps, and when she turned, her eyes met Yazmin’s panicked gaze. Annika said nothing, just stared at her coldly. This time, it was Yazmin who looked away first. After all, the Beryl family was in the wrong, and with the news about Serena breaking, Yazmin knew Annika had a thousand reasons to take the child. She could easily claim Monroe wasn’t safe at the Beryl Manor.

So, Yazmin felt utterly helpless. “Annika,” she called out softly.

She walked over and gently stroked Monroe’s head, her heart aching. If Monroe was taken away, she would see her grandson far less often.

She truly adored this child.

Seeing that Yazmin wasn’t trying to take the baby from her, Annika’s voice softened. “Yazmin, please tell Grandpa that I’ve taken Monroe. I’ll bring him back to visit when I have time.”

“Okay, okay,” Yazmin could only nod sadly, at a loss for words.
