Her heart pounded and her face flushed as she hissed at Conrad, “You have no shame, doing this in front of our son.”
“What’s wrong with it? He won’t know a thing. Besides, he ought to learn where he came from sometime,” Conrad retorted shamelessly.
With that, he spun her around, pressing her against the wall. As he leaned in to kiss her, his hands began to roam freely over her body.
The air grew thick with a palpable tension.
After countless encounters, Conrad knew every one of Annika's sensitive spots. In no time, her resistance melted into helpless surrender, her body turning soft as water in his arms. Annika hated herself for it. She had been so determined to stay away from him, yet with just a few touches, her resolve had completely crumbled.
“Still saying no?” he murmured, his lips brushing her ear in a teasing whisper. “You’re practically melting for me.”
Just as he was about to press his advantage, his hot breath ghosting over her lips, he whispered raggedly, “Remember this, Annika. For the rest of your life, I’m the only one who gets to be inside you.”
His long fingers traced a path downward, sending a shiver through her pliant body. As if satisfied with his handiwork, Conrad let out a wicked laugh and began to unbuckle his belt. But just as he was about to claim his prize, the shrill ring of a cell phone shattered the moment. Conrad tried to ignore it, intent on continuing his exploration, but Annika gave him a shove, gesturing that the noise was too loud and might wake Monroe. With a low curse, Conrad finally straightened up and grabbed his phone.
“Hello?”
Whatever was said on the other end made Conrad's expression darken, though a flicker of restrained tenderness still lingered in his eyes. “You go to sleep first. I’ll be over in a bit.”
After hanging up, Conrad turned to continue what they had started, but Annika shoved him away with all her might.
Caught off guard, Conrad stumbled back, his head hitting the corner of the wall with a dull thud. He rubbed the back of his head and got up from the floor, reaching for her hand. But Annika met his advance with a swift kick to his groin, causing his face to contort in pain.
He gritted his teeth. “Annika, you’re vicious. If you break it, you can kiss your future happiness goodbye.”
“It’s not like you’re the last man on Earth.”
