His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 7

The news of Conrad's return came on the morning of the third day. Annika had just woken up when Beth rushed upstairs to tell her his private jet was about to land. Without even stopping to put on shoes, Annika flew down the stairs.

Just as she reached the front door, a black Cayenne swept into the driveway. The engine cut, and Hank got out, opening the trunk to retrieve a small, polished urn.

The car door opened, and Conrad had just swung his leg out when the blare of a horn, sharp and urgent, ripped through the air, drawing everyone's attention.

A bright red BMW screeched to a halt behind the Cayenne. The woman who emerged was the picture of elegance, her curvaceous figure wrapped in a custom-made black classic dress. Her aura was one of timeless grace and commanding presence. She strode directly to Hank, snatched the urn from his hands, and with a flick of her wrist, tossed it onto the ground.

The box cracked open, and a cloud of white ash scattered across the pavement.

Conrad’s exhausted eyes turned a raw, bloodshot red as he stared at the ashes blowing in the wind. His hands, hanging at his sides, balled into tight fists. "Mom, what more do you want?"

"As long as I am alive," she declared, her voice trembling on the edge of hysteria, "that woman will never set foot in the Beryl family home."

Yazmin wasn't just being cruel; Serena’s actions were a painful echo of what Zoey Baker had done years ago. Zoey had used every shameless trick in the book to climb the social ladder, and even in death, she remained a wedge between Yazmin and her husband. To Yazmin, Serena was just another Zoey—another shameless mistress.

"Hank, sweep up the ashes," Conrad ordered, his voice dangerously low.

Hank grabbed a broom, but before he could start, Yazmin snatched it from him and flung it far across the driveway.
