His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 89

“Conrad,” she began, her voice softening into a plea, “I can’t give you the child. I’ll do anything else you ask, anything at all.”

“No,” Conrad refused without a second thought. He ran a hand through his hair in frustration. “That child is a Beryl. My mother would never allow a Beryl heir to be raised outside the family.”

It was always the same reason. Annika gave a weak, exhausted laugh. “I’ll talk to Yazmin myself.”

“Fine. But before that, you’re coming back to Seafall City with me.” He delivered the demand like an ultimatum, terrified she would disappear again. His mind was sharp enough to piece together why she was in Eirlandia—she was hiding, planning to have the baby without him knowing. The thought sent a jolt of fear through him, and his expression hardened.

“Where are you staying? Let’s go pack your things,” Conrad said, his tone shifting from its usual coldness to the eager energy of a teenager in a new relationship.

“I’m not going back. I’ve already found a doctor here…”

Before she could finish, Conrad cut her off, his voice sharp with anger. “Don’t even think about it.”

He used a combination of threats and persuasion, following her back to her rented apartment. The moment he saw the place, his brow furrowed in disgust. “How can anyone live here?”

It was a stroke of luck that he’d run into her on this business trip. Otherwise, he might have lost her—and their child—forever.

Conrad booked two tickets back to Seafall City and insisted they stay at his hotel for the night. When Annika demanded her own room, he flatly refused.

After a long and stressful day, they were both grimy with sweat. Annika went to shower while Conrad slipped out to buy medical supplies. By the time he returned, she was out of the bathroom, drying her hair.

He opened the first-aid kit and began to gently clean and dress her injured toes. He had never been this tender with her before, and the unexpected kindness left Annika feeling both flustered and wary.

After he finished, Conrad grabbed a change of clothes and paused at the bathroom door. His gaze was intense as he delivered a stark warning. “Don’t even think about running. I’ll find you, even if you go to the ends of the earth.”
