"But you came that time, and I liked it," David coaxed.
"That's because you kept forcing me."
David simply laughed. "Then I'll keep forcing you."
Eli shook her head, but she still came in the end.
Eli sat in the stands with the book she had brought along. Occasionally, she read when the game stopped, then turned her attention back to the game. At first, she had only come because David had pressured her, but as time went by, she began to enjoy the game.
She did not really understand everything about basketball, but because she often accompanied Josh and Uncle Chris when they practiced together, eventually some of the game patterns were no longer unfamiliar to Eli.
When Raven fell behind by a few points, Eli's attention was completely focused on the court. She watched the players' movements, the way they opened up space, and the attacking patterns the opposing team kept using. Without realizing it, she leaned slightly forward.
"If they keep letting number seven move from the left side, they're going to have trouble," she murmured softly.
She did not notice that the person beside her had briefly turned to look at her.
Eli continued watching the game. A few minutes later, Raven's play began to change. They closed off number seven's movement and managed to catch up before eventually winning the game.
The stands immediately erupted into cheers. Eli smiled along as she watched the Raven players celebrate their victory. She even clapped for a moment before picking up her book again.
Not long afterward, someone stopped in front of her.
"Eli."
Eli looked up and immediately saw David. His face still showed excitement after the victory. His hair was slightly damp with sweat, but the wide smile had not disappeared from his face.
"We won," he said proudly.
Eli smiled. "I know. Congratulations."
David stood in front of her for a few moments, as if waiting for something more. "That's all?"
Eli let out a soft laugh. "What am I supposed to say?"
"I don't know. Tell me I played well."
