HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 885

Several hours before Carrington Bay descended into total chaos.

An old warehouse in the harbor district remained shrouded in an oppressive silence. Dim lights hanging from the ceiling cast a yellowish glow across the concrete floor. In the middle of the room, several fierce-looking men stood on guard without saying a word.

No one spoke, because none of them dared break the silence before the man standing at the far end of the room gave his orders.

Silas Evermont stared intently at a large map of Carrington Bay spread across the long table. His fingers moved slowly along the digital roadways connecting the city center, the university district, and the old harbor in the southwest.

Falcon, standing beside him, watched the meticulous inspection with growing impatience. "You're still checking that?" he asked.

Silas did not answer immediately. His eyes remained fixed on the map for a few moments before he finally looked up at Falcon. "I'm making sure there isn't a single mistake."

Falcon clicked his tongue softly, finding the answer overly cautious. "Your men are ready. The route has already been secured, and all the operational vehicles have been fitted with fake license plates."

"That's still not enough," Silas cut in, firmly closing the thin folder beside him. "As long as my opponent is Cale Miller, the word enough doesn't exist in my dictionary."

Falcon let out a quiet breath. There was one thing he truly disliked about Silas: his habit of overthinking everything to the smallest detail. Yet at the same time, Falcon had to admit that it was precisely that analytical nature that made Silas almost never fail when carrying out his grand plans.

And Falcon hoped this plan would not fail either.

"Once they've been captured," Falcon said, folding his arms across his chest as he looked at Silas curiously, "why do they have to be separated?"

Silas unfolded the map on the table again without changing his calm expression. This time, the tip of his index finger pointed to an isolated location near the harbor. "Lydia."

A fraction of a second later, his finger moved north to a completely different location. "Naomi. You should already know the answer, Don Falcon."

Falcon merely furrowed his brow, waiting for a further explanation.

Silas looked at him with a cold, calculating gaze. "If they're kept in the same place, Cale only has to deploy all his resources to find a single location."

Time passed in an increasingly oppressive silence. Then, at last, the sound of approaching engines shattered the stillness outside the old warehouse. One vehicle drew near, followed by a second, then several more that came to a stop almost simultaneously in front of the entrance.

Several of the men assigned to guard the warehouse hurried toward the main gate.

Silas remained standing calmly where he was without moving an inch, his eyes fixed straight on the warehouse door as it slowly opened. Falcon stepped outside first to greet the arrivals, his face filled with a satisfaction he had not felt in a long time.

"It's done," Falcon reported as soon as he walked back inside.

Silas wasted no time getting to the heart of the operation. "Our casualties?"

"We lost three men," Falcon replied briefly.

Silas nodded in understanding. "Daniel?"
