HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 889

Cale slowly shook his head. "No."

Vincent turned toward his superior with a frown. "What do you mean?"

"Falcon couldn't have organized a field operation that cleanly and that quickly on his own," Cale explained coldly.

Before Vincent could respond to the analysis, the communication radio inside the car crackled to life again, cutting through the tense silence.

"Sir!" one of the analysts at the command center reported urgently. "We've obtained additional CCTV footage from their escape route."

Vincent immediately pressed the button that activated the display on the dashboard. A grainy video recording began to play. The black van believed to be carrying the kidnappers could clearly be seen speeding through an intersection in the southwestern part of Carrington Bay.

"Continue tracking them," Vincent ordered over the radio.

The display switched to the next street camera. The black van continued speeding along the roads on the outskirts of the city, then...

"The last known location is in the southwest district," the analyst reported over the speaker.

Vincent nodded in understanding. "Deploy the field teams to sweep that entire area immediately."

"We've already done that, sir," the analyst replied promptly.

But before any of them could breathe a sigh of relief, another operator's voice suddenly cut in over a different channel. "Mr. Vincent! We have a new finding from the surveillance team."

Vincent immediately pressed the communication button on the dashboard. "Report immediately."

"We've recovered footage from another traffic camera on the outer ring road. A vehicle matching the same body style and color was seen passing through thirteen minutes after the last sighting in the southwest."

For a moment, Vincent thought they had finally found a breakthrough. "Good. Keep tracking its route."

But the officer's voice on the other end sounded hesitant and uneasy. "The problem is, sir... this vehicle is heading in a different direction."

Vincent's brows immediately knitted together. "What do you mean, a different direction?"

"The vehicle was seen traveling at high speed toward the northeastern side of the city."

Silence once again settled over the cabin as the car continued speeding forward. Cale's eyes remained fixed on the two separate routes displayed on the digital map. Slowly, his jaw tightened as the fragments of the enemy's strategy began falling into place in his mind.

"He's not working alone," Cale said firmly.

Vincent stared at the two red routes cutting across the map of Carrington Bay. His mind raced until a terrifyingly logical conclusion slowly formed in his thoughts.

"So you mean..." Vincent left the sentence unfinished as he looked at Cale with widened eyes. "This tactic of splitting the routes was planned to divide our attention?"

Cale never once took his eyes off the digital map. His voice was so quiet that it radiated an icy chill, instantly gripping the atmosphere inside the car and sending a shiver through everyone who heard it.

"There's someone," Cale paused briefly, his gaze sharpening on the branching escape routes displayed on the screen, "who's orchestrating all of this from behind Falcon."

The car continued racing through the darkness, cutting across the roads toward the southwestern district of Carrington Bay. But now Cale realized one crucial thing: the enemy they were facing was far greater and far more dangerous than a mere criminal named Falcon.

Vincent continued staring at the two routes.

"Then..." He slowly turned toward Cale. "Who are we really up against?"
