Menu Mia parked the company Maybach outside Northbrook’s most exclusive private styling boutique.

Hold this,Chloe ordered the second they stepped inside, aggressively shoving her heavy designer handbag into Mia’s chest.

Ms. Bennett! Welcome back! The head stylist rushed over, practically bowing. When she noticed Mia standing quietly behind Chloe, dressed in a simple blazer and holding the bags, she exchanged a knowing, snobby smirk with the heiress.

For two agonizing hours, Chloe acted like royalty. She sipped champagne, tried on a dozen hautecouture gowns, and barked orders at Mia to fetch different shoes.

Mia stood near the racks, her expression completely unbothered. If she were still the foolish girl hopelessly in love with Ethan, this treatment might have broken her. But now? She only felt exhausted. Her lower back ached terribly from the early pregnancy fatigue, and Chloe’s petty jealousy meant absolutely nothing to her.

Finally, Chloe settled on a stunning, pale purple gown that made her look like a delicate fairytale princess.

Alright, we’re done here,Chloe declared, admiring her flawless reflection in the mirror. Then, her eyes darted to Mia. A wicked, cruel idea lit up her face.

Actually,Chloe drawled, turning to the stylist. Bring out the absolute cheapest, ugliest dress you have in the back. My assistant needs something to wear tonight.

The stylist giggled maliciously. Of course, Ms. Bennett. I have just the thing.

Minutes later, an assistant wheeled out a monstrosity. It was a cheap, shapeless black base completely plastered with chaotic, tacky ribbons in neon orange and dull gray. The stitching was sloppy. It looked like a circus tent exploded.

Mia’s brows knitted together in mild disgust, but she didn’t flinch.

Ms. Bennett is being more than generous, the stylist sneered, adjusting Chloe’s perfect gown. Even our clearance pieces cost over sixty thousand dollars. You should be grateful.

Since Ethan’s footing the bill, you wear what I tell you to wear,Chloe gloated, stepping up to Mia. If you don’t like it, buy your ownif a pathetic orphan like you can even afford it.

Standing next to Chloe’s breathtaking purple dress, Mia in that hideous rag would look like a complete, utter clown at the most elite gala of the

year.

But Mia didn’t argue. She didn’t cry. Instead, a cold, dangerous smirk touched the corner of her lips. She simply pulled Ethan’s black Centurion card from her pocket and slapped it onto the glass counter with a sharp clack.

Ring them both up,Mia said coldly, her aura instantly shifting into pure, terrifying boss energy that made the stylist take a nervous step back.

She swiped the card, grabbed the heavy dress bags, and walked out the door without giving Chloe a second glance.

Let Chloe have her pathetic moment of triumph. Mia had survived far worse things. She had a child to protect now, and she wasn’t going to let anyone step on her dignity.

On the drive back, Mia’s phone buzzed. A text from Ethan lit up the screen:

[We’re out of time. Go straight to the hotel and change there.]
