Chapter 106: Estranged siblings

JASMINES POV

That evening as I ate dinner with Anthony I wondered how Louis was doing at the event. I talked to Anthony for a bit, helped him with his homework, and then kissed him goodnight.

When I went to my room to retire for the night I then received a message. I checked and saw it was from Mike.

Jasmine can you pass through the hospital this weekend? To meet my father and for us to properly thank you for your help," he said. ’Also to talk to you properly since we didn’t really get to chat today,’

His message read. Today I could only briefly greet them after , my meeting with the manager. I was disappointed but I had told them I would try to make more time the next time I came by.

’Sure, what time?’ I replied.

I hadn’t made any plans for the weekend yet so it wasn’t an issue.

’Around mid-morning 11am like last time," he informed me. "Megan will be there as well by the way."

I smiled at the Megan detail because that meant he had told her about the situation with his father.

We agreed on the time and our meeting was decided.

The following morning when I met Louis in the foyer, what immediately caught my eye was his tie. I quickly went toward him.

"Why does it seem like your tie is always crooked every time I see you in the morning, lately?" I complained as I adjusted it for him.

My eyes looked up at him and found him grinning down at me.

"What are you smiling about?" I asked him

"Nothing," he replied suspiciously and I cocked an eyebrow at him.

"How was last night?" I then asked him.

"I got into it with Chairman Acland yesterday," he confessed.

My eyes widened in shock. "Louis, you literally promised me you start anything with him.

The thing is he came to me, I didn’t go to him," he quickly explained.

"How does that make the situation better?" I asked him.

We left the apartment as we continued the conversation.

"What did he say to you?" I asked him.

"He was saying some weird stuff about how I shouldn’t be in a relationship with you and how I’m using you," he informed me.

"I don’t understand that man at all," I said as I shook my head. "He seems so fixated on our relationship for some weird reason."

Keith was behaving so strangely, lately.

In my past life, he never gave two shits about me in fact I barely ever saw him once he had me moved out of the house but now he was acting like this. I thought he would be relieved that I wanted a divorce and get it over with. Not to mention whatever was going on with it was making Diana react negatively too. I mean she literally came to my house assaulted me and threatened to harm Anthony as well.

"Hopefully, it didn’t escalate into an argument, right?" I asked nervously.

"It was about to, but we were in public we couldn’t do much," he informed me.

From Louis’ expression, I could tell something had happened but he clearly wasn’t going to share more than this. I just hoped Keith’s anger didn’t turn to Louis.

"He still hasn’t given you an update on those divorce papers has he?" he asked me.

"No," I replied.

"I plan on sending him a message and if he doesn’t respond I’ll go ahead and just file at the courthouse for a contested divorce without his signature," I told him. I wasn’t asking for anything from Keith. Neither alimony, property, just custody of my child, so I could request a contested divorce.

"That’s the best course of action," Louis agreed.

When we reached the car he held the door for me to enter first.

I scrolled upwards on my phone’s messages with him, the last message I had received from him was when I was initially kicked out of Keith’s estate and he texted me that I should ask for Keith’s forgiveness for the whole Diana situation. In my past, life that was the last message he sent me.

The texts from before that were so few I could count them on one hand and they always had to do with anything else but my well-being.

’Why do you want to see me?’ I replied to the text.

I then continued to work so as not to get distracted by my brother.

About ten minutes or so later I got a reply.

"Is it a problem to want to see my sister?" he responded. I cocked my eyebrow at the sheer audacity of the message he’d sent. We both knew that wasn’t true.

The only reason I could think he’d want to talk to me now is that maybe he’d heard about my situation with Keith, the divorce, or perhaps my connection to Louis.

It must be, because this had never occurred in my past life. I didn’t respond to my brother this time. I needed time to think about it.

After work as Louis and I made our way to his apartment I told him about my brother wanting to see me. I explained everything. I told him about needing my mother’s medical records, not knowing the truth behind her sudden death, and how odd it was for him to want to see me despite our estranged relationship.

"Mmhmm, that’s weird," he told me.

I then told him my theories for why my brother probably wanted to see me.

"It’s either one or all if those reasons to be honest," Louis agreed with me. "Well, will you go to see him?"

"I don’t know, I’m still thinking about it," I told him.

"Well, whatever you decide is up to you, just remember that if you do decide to go take Henry and Kyle with you as always."

"So about what I was talking about earlier, I have some homes I’d like you to visit and have a look at," Louis told me as we ate dinner. Tony, Louis, and me, all three of us were together. "Are you free this weekend?"

"On Saturday, I promised Mike from the restaurant to visit him at the hospital in the morning. I’ll be free in the afternoon but I doubt that will be enough time to have a look at all perhaps I can have a look at some them tomorrow after work?" I asked him.
