JASMINE’S POV
It was on Tuesday that I finally received a response from my father.
I had sent an email to him on Sunday threatening to turn him in for murdering my mother unless he did what I told him to do. I had also made sure to preface my connection to the Carrington family.
It was around mid-morning when I finished a meeting I had to attend with Louis when my father called me, which took me by surprise. The nearest place I would have privacy was an emergency staircase. I went there and I accepted the call and brought the phone up to my ear.
"Jasmine what is the meaning of this!" his deep rich voice sounded through the phone. It had been years since I had last heard my father’s voice I couldn’t believe I was talking to him.
"Hello father it’s rare for you to call me, I’m so hono—" I said to him.
"Shut up you bitch, how did you get those files! Who gave them to you!!" he interrupted me.
My facial expression changed to one of surprise. It really wasn’t rocket science was it? If the files can only be accessed by him and Lawrence, and he hadn’t approved of their release then who else could it be?
"They fell out of the sky," I said purely to tick him off.
"You disrespectful whore! who do you think you are to talk to me like this?" he started. "Return those documents now! You always been a quiet submissive doll know your pl—"
"—Listen, father, you know who’s backing me right?" I interrupted him reminding him of my Carrington connection. "I will turn you in if you refuse to listen me and they will back me up. I already told you this in my email."
There was a moment of silence. I only heard the background noises in through the phone.
"What do you want?" he asked reluctantly.
"I won’t report anything if you help me," I started. "I want you to help me with my divorce from Keith Acland. He want partial custody but I want full custody."
"Uf the Carrington’s are backing you why do you need me?" he asked me.
"You have to pay for what you did to mother in some way don’t you?" I reasoned with him. Obviously that was a lie the Carringtons weren’t back me, just Louis who was the last born. Using him would be the same as using my father. I didn’t want to bother Louis anymore than I had already had but I wouldn’t feel guilty using my father like this.
However, using him wasn’t the only thing I planned to do him to avenge my mother.
I heard him click his tongue. "Fine," he agreed.
"But that’s not all," I then said. " I also want money."
"What?
" I want 20 million dollars on top of the fees you’ll help me with for my divorce." I told him. That alimony I should have gotten from Keith why not get it from my father instead?
"20 million dollars, have you lost your mind?" he asked me.
"I know you can afford it," I said to him. Our family company was worth over a 100 million dollars. It wasn’t like the Acland or Carrington companies that were worth billions of dollars but it was still a lot. I knew 20 million would take a lot from his retirement but I didn’t care.
"You little-" he started.
"—I’d appreciate if you could stop with the name-calling," I said to him.
I thought you were a quiet obedient submisive child when did you become like this?" my father asked me.
"The minute I had the upper hand," I simply replied. "Now do we have ourselves a deal I said sternly."
"Yes," my father replied through gritted teeth. "I’ll have you I touch with our family lawyers soon. I can also arrange the wiring of the money soon."
"Excellent," I said happy we had an agreement.
That evening when I got home Tony and I did our usual routine. We had dinner, he did his homework and I took him to bed.
Once I retired to my bedroom for the night I began to go through the folder on Diana that Louis had given to me. I smiled as I thought about Louis. I was so grateful he was helping me with my investigation. It helped me with my workload since I had so much to do; work, my father, he divorce, etc. It was nice not to worry about too many things.
I opened the file and began to read through the countless documents on Diana.
