JASMINE’S POV
Keith reacted about as much as I thought he would when he caught me. He likes to be in control. And the minute he found me, he wasted no time reinforcing it. The sadist.
He never yells or says much to me anyway, but his actions are loud and clear on how he stands. Whether you liked it or not, he would do what he wanted.
He was predictable in that regard.
Like a CEO, he runs his life like a business as well. I’m just an employee to him. What bothered me the most was that sometimes he had this look of guilt but he still went ahead and did it anyway.
Still, I can’t believe I’d wasted the only chance I’d had to escape, and having security increased only for Louis not to be able to pick up the call. What’s worse I risked it all to add to the stress I already had.
What are the odds of both Leigh-Anne and me, lovers of Louis, in different timelines working as his assistant?
I’m rattled, I’m not going to lie. I’m not with Louis, nor have I been able to talk to him for almost 3 weeks now. If this kept up, who is to say he wouldn’t move on as well? I really wish I knew what was going on with him.
I thought to use that moment as an opportunity to ask him to loosen security. That was a bold move after the stunt I pulled.
Ultimately, I didn’t regret my decision to stay. Not that I would have made it far if I had tried. With Tony still missing, I had to stay with Keith, who was unfortunately my best hope to find him. So, I had to find another way to escape.
I had to get him to lower the security and give me back my phone somehow.
I was hoping he would see I won’t try to escape or anything. He didn’t look convinced when I was done though. So when we found Tony, was he just going to keep this up forever and ever?
That jerk.
I got up from the couch to get some more papers from his desk. I still had work to do after all. I went to Keith’s desk to pick up the financial records folders.
As I split the folders up and placed the top half on the other side of the desk, something small fell to the floor. I lowered myself and picked it up. I saw it was a photo. I turned it over and saw it was a picture...of me. And Louis.
My mouth widened as I looked down at it. It showed Louis and me entering the Garden House HQ.
My eyes averted to the bodyguards in the room, who were all watching me. My gaze then went back to the photo in disbelief. I looked at the folder the photo had fallen out on the table.
We discussed our findings on the investigation at dinner. As usual, Keith finished first and stood up from the table.
"Good night, Jasmine," he told me as usual.
I never responded to Keith whenever he told me goodnight. My lips parted very slowly. "Goodnight...Keith," I said slowly. My eyes focused on his back, and I watched for his reaction.
He then stopped walking and looked back at me. He looked taken aback by the response. After a moment, my eyes shifted back to my half-eaten dinner, acting nonchalant. He then continued walking after a moment and left the dining room.
That night, as I lay in bed, I thought of Louis. What if he became interested in Leigh-Anne and eventually fell for her? If it’s fate, then won’t they naturally fall for each other again? Not to mention, she was pretty and closer in age to him. Now that I was out of the picture because of Keith, Louis was all Leigh-Anne’s.
I didn’t want to rush my thoughts and immediately assume the worst, but it was difficult not to.
Before agreeing to date Louis, I had been worried about Leigh-Anne, but I thought I would be fine and understand if his feelings changed if he ever met her.
But now I wanted things to continue with him. I really do love him. My heart was pounding in my chest.
