Husband you've abandoned me Fine I'll focus on raising my son novel Chapter 31

Chapter 31: Tests and pawn shops

It was a Saturday morning and I had gone early to the hospital to get a check up. I wanted to find out if they could discover the disease I would get in future. I had an MRI scan first so they see my organs and then they drew my blood afterwards.

At first I wasn’t sure if I could afford the tests required but then I found out I was still registered under Keith’s health care plan. Luckily for me I could get all the tests done with no issue.

In my past life when I got tested after I started feeling sick, the results said multiple of my organs were failing. However, they didn’t know why. They told me that by that point it was too late whatever had caused my sickness had done too much damage to identify the cause. Hopefully, this time with frequent testing perhaps they could discover the first organ that would fail and hence the cause before too much damage had been done.

Leaving the examination room I found Tony in the waiting area just outside the room.

He was playing video games on a tablet. "Shall we go?" I asked him when I reached him. He looked up from his tablet at me and nodded. On the seat beside him was a large bag which I picked up slung over my shoulder. I thanked the lady by the reception near by for keeping an eye on him and we left.

"What did the doctor say?" Tony asked.

" Nothing yet, it’s just a check up they’ll give me the results later." I reminded him.

At first I wanted to leave Tony at home not wanting to bore him with the hospital visit. However, he insisted on coming. He said that it was fine even if it was boring as long as he got to spend time with me. I was touched by that. It made me feel even worse for all the times I had left him at home to go try to speak with Keith.

I wondered how Tony was doing at school. Like I always asked him everyday after school and he always gave the same answer, that he was fine. However, was that really the truth?

He didn’t come home with any visible bruises after that day and seemed happy when he was with me.

However, I remembered what he had said to me in the hospital the day I died. "School was hell but it would have been better if you were there for me!"

Was he just pretending to be alright so I didn’t have to worry? He was very capable of that. I was worried that, that was the case. I internally sighed why did children have to make parents worry so much.

We made our way down the hallway from the examination room and reached the elevator. Upon reaching the ground floor Tony and I walked through the hospital entrance hall and headed towards the hospital exit. Where I saw a familiar man run past me. I looked behind, my eyes following the man.

Is that Mike? I thought to myself. It sure looked like him. I wonder why he’s here I thought to myself. Had he not been running I would have greeted him.

Tony and Is next task after this was to care of what was in the bag I held. Inside were many of the luxury goods Diana had bought. I planned to sell them off and get the money back.We went to the first of many accessory pawn shops I would be going to. Hopefully I would be done before the late afternoon.
