Chapter 52: Other ways to investigate

JASMINES POV

The following day as I worked at the restaurant I anxiously waited for Mike’s update on how his father surgery was going to turn out. He was supposed to come in to work but he requested to make up for his shift today another day. He had told the manager it was due to personal reasons. No one else at the restaurant knew what was going on with him aside from me. It wasn’t to speak on his situation so I kept his secret.

"I wonder what’s going on with Mike," Megan asked on our lunch break after lunch service.

Josh was smoking in a corner of the room as he checked his phone as well as he checked his phone.

"Has he spoken to you?" I asked Megan.

"No, but he did say that he has something important to tell me soon," she told me surprised. "Is he finally going to explain me what’s been going on with him?"

That meant he planned to let her know soon. I was glad he keeping his promise.

"I think he will," I said to her giving her hope.

"I hope so," she said a little sceptical. Oh he had to thought to myself Mike had promised me he would tell her. If he squirmed out of it I would corner

*******

It was later in the afternoon after I had picked up Tony that I got an update from Mike.

My fathers’ surgery went well! He texted me.

I felt a wave of relief come over me as I read his text. ’That’s great news’. I texted back.

’The doctors are saying that his body is showing signs of accepting the kidney and in few days should it should be functioning properly.’ Miked added.

’This is amazing Mike, I’m so happy," I replied.

It was a gamble paying for the surgery knowing there was a chance his body could reject the kidney. I’m glad the gamble had paid off in the end.

Victoria and I over then moon. Thank you so much Jasmine you have no idea
