Husband you've abandoned me Fine I'll focus on raising my son novel Chapter 72

Chapter 72: Childhood Crush

LOUIS’ POV

Growing up, my life had never been interesting. I was the lastborn in my family and the second son.

I was just the fat, clumsy youngest son everyone ignored. All the attention was always on my older brother who was the heir to my father’s company and somewhat to my older sister.

It’s not that I wanted to be the heir or anything but did my parents have to act like I didn’t exist? I barely ever saw my father, who was always busy working, but he would take my brother with him. My more available mother still prioritized my brother above everyone else.

If I wanted to ask for something from my parents they would refuse or downright ignore me. But say my elder brother asked for the same thing they would run around like headless chickens to obtain it. Their favoritism was so blatant.

I always wondered why they had me if they didn’t care much for me. Or perhaps I was an unexpected pregnancy. Personally, I believed the latter. Anyway, coming to terms with my life I decided to just accept that this ishie things were. I remained in the shadows and never tried to stand out or ask for anything again.

Then, I met her.

On that day my family was hosting a lunch at our estate and the Towers family was the guests, Apparently, my father had recently grown close to Mr Towers because both of them owned companies of a similar size. As I was always barely acknowledged, I just greeted the Towers family members and then decided to remain quiet.

"Hey, why are you so quiet?" a person then asked me.

What struck me the most about her was her beautiful chestnut brown hair and green eyes that seemed to shimmer like emeralds. She is so beautiful I thought to myself.

No one ever talks to me," I told her.

"Well, I’ll talk to you," she said to me and sat beside me at the table for lunch.

I found out her name was Jasmine, I was around 10 and she was 16. After lunch, whilst our parents discussed business she spent time with me. Chatting with me and asking me about myself.

She’s the only person who’s ever noticed me. Made me feel like I was special.

I saw my father was planning on giving me these small insignificant positions within the company. This was going to be my life. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Why was I complaining I thought to myself? Even if my family paid no attention to my me they gave me a job. They paid me well, I had a nice home, a nice car. I lived a comfortable life. Why was I complaining? I would marry someone one day have some kids and live out the rest of my life comfortably. So why wasn’t I content? Most people would die to be in my position. Was I just an ungrateful nepobaby?

I forced myself to accept and be happy with my situation as I went about my days.

I was thinking about that as I was in the middle of a business meeting I quite frankly found boring. I was having the meeting at one of the many restaurants in the city that I had my assistant Andrew randomly choose.

I sat next to Andrew and the person we were having the meeting with, sat across us. We had already taken our orders from the manager of the restaurant who came to greet us. Soon waiters came in our private dining room with our food. There were two of them; one was a man and the other a woman. I briefly glanced at them just to avert my attention to anything other than this meeting. Immediately, I noticed chestnut brown hair and green eyes. Jasmine. I thought to myself. Then I realised how ridiculous I sounded.

How childish am I being? I thought to myself. Am I that bored and desperate to see her that I’m thinking that every woman who looks like Jasmine is her. Lots of women have brown hair and green eyes. Get a grip. However, the more closely I inspected her the more puzzled I became. She really looked like her.

"Jasmine," the other waiter called out to her.
