Chapter 84: Fake Couple

JASMINES POV

"That’s none of your business, Keith," I told him. It really wasn’t.

"Isnt he younger than you? He looks fresh out of college!" Keith complained.

Louis and Keith stared each other down, their eye contact evidently hostile. That wasn’t good.

"I think it’s a bit ru—" Louis started.

"—It’s okay Louis," I interrupted him.

I was extremely grateful for Louis’s presence, condidering Keith would have forcibly taken me if it weren’t for him. However, I didn’t want Louis and Keith to end up having a fight. The Carringtons’ and the Aclands’ were some of the most important families in the country I didn’t want something to start because of me.

Louis was the youngest son, whilst Keith was the chairman of the Acland group. So technically Keith held more power. If Louis got in trouble with his family for speaking out of turn I would feel awful.

To avoid that I wanted to handle this conflict myself, and have Keith was solely focused on me.

"As I said before it’s none of your concern what we are," I told him. "Just focus on you, Marco and Diana. You were worried that I didn’t have anyone to turn to well now you know I’ll be just fine. You don’t have to concern yourself with me, Keith." I said irritatedly

Though I was still figuring out the kind of life I was going to live with Louis, at least, I could finally put a stop to Keith’s annoying "saviour" role. He was trying to force me to go home with him because he thought I had no one to turn to. I was tired of him feeling like he was helping me when he wasn’t at all.

"Oh so that’s why you didn’t put any financial requests in your divorce? Because you have someone else now?" Keith asked me in disbelief as he looked back and forth from Louis to me. "When did this start between you two?"

Keith clearly thought Louis and I were dating. Personally, though I knew it was wrong, I found it a little satisfying to seem like I was in one in front of Keith. I worried for Louis, however, who might find the misunderstanding insulting, considering I hadn’t shut it down outright. I expected Louis to speak up but he didn’t.

I just gave Keith a confused and annoyed look. I wasn’t about to repeat that what Louis and I were none of his business. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"Still having a lover doesn’t change the fact that you could still ask for money in the divorce," Keith continued.

Was he seriously complaining that I didn’t want his money? He seemed offended even.

"Keith, I have never received any of my allowances once you moved Tony and I out the mansion! If I asked for money in the divorce I wouldn’t get it either!" I yelled out.

"What are you tal—" Keith started to refute.

"This conversation is done, Keith!" I quickly interrupted him. "Now that you understand I don’t need you just sign those papers," I reminded him once more now that. "You can send your lawyers or other representatives and we can finalize everything through them."

I then turned to Louis who was waiting patiently beside me.

"Shall we go?" he asked me.

"Yes." I replied as he put his arm around me. My eyes widened he was making it seem like we were actually a couple.

"Good day to you Chairman Acland," Louis said to Keith and then escorted me away from him.

"I can’t believe this!" I heard Keith say from behind us. I took one last glance at him.

I let out an exhausted sigh as we walked away. I can’t believe Keith had almost forced me to go with him. Hopefully, the message was now clear to him and he wouldn’t bother me any longer. I was so annoyed with Keith lately who just kept popping up and trying to meet with me.

"Are you alright Jasmine?" Louis asked me as we made our way to his car. His arm was still around my shoulder and he was gently caressing it.

"Yes," I replied as I nodded my head. "If it weren’t for you he would have forced me to go with him."

"Then I’m glad I got here in time," he said. "Why exactly was he trying to kidnap you?"

"He said he was concerned for me and thought I had nowhere to stay. Of course he had no knowledge of the fact that I was staying with you, " I explained.

"Knowing you, I kind of understand his fear," he said jokingly to me.

I looked at him as I smiled in embarrassment. "Stop," I told him. I knew he was to the fact I was reluctant to receive help his help though I needed it.

Louis and I greeted him. Louis then left Tony and I so we could chat. He had to make some calls. I helped Tony with his homework in the meantime. We met again at dinner where all three of us ate together. Our conversation was light-hearted and fun.

I then had Tony prepared for bed and once he was tucked in I left the room. I closed the door behind me walked down the hallway. Tony and I’s rooms were located on an upper floor of the apartment. I then entered the main hall of the floor which overlooked the main floor below where I found Louis on the balcony of the living room next to the foyer. I walked down the steps and went to the balcony.

He leaned against the railing, smoking a cigarette.

"You smoke?" I asked as I approached him.

He turned to look at me. "Sometimes," he replied. He then turned his body to face me, leaning backwards against the railing.

I stopped by a table and two chairs on the balcony near where he stood.

"Would you like to try?" he asked me.

I shook my head. "I don’t smoke." I told him.

He then took another puff of the cigarette.

I watched as he brought the cigarette to his lips. His long nimble fingers, the veins of his strong hand that stuck out like cords, and not to mention the muscular arm that it was attached to it. He was wearing a basic T-shirt so the tattoo on his arm was in full view.

Then I suddenly stopped my train of thought. Why was I looking at that? I quickly removed all that from my mind. I then noticed Louis’ eyes on me and met his gaze, worried he’d noticed my creepy gaze.

"Are you going to work tomorrow?" he asked me.

I nodded my head. "Yes, I am."

"Are you sure you’ll be alright after today?" he asked disappointed by my answer. "Honestly, I’d prefer you stay here at the apartment."

With today now over there was only a day left until Mike, Megan and I carried out our plan. I just needed to provide physical evidence to prove Andrew’s crimes. Only one more day and I could go back to focusing on my life and figuring out how I was going to build something for my son and me.
