"I promised that what I’m working on won’t take long," I reassured Louis.
"What if Chairman Acland approaches you again?" he asked nervously.
"He no longer has a reason to continue coming to see me. He will focus on Diana. It’s Diana whom I’m more worried about," I told him.
My interaction with Keith had thrown me off a little but I wasn’t worried about him. I had Kyle and Harry to protect me in case anything happened.
He let out a sigh. "I’m not so sure about that," he said doubtfully.
I wondered why he was more nervous about Keith.
"At the very least promise me you won’t stay up late tonight again," he then requested me.
"I promise," I lied through my teeth.
Louis scoffed as he took another puff of his cigarette. He then moved away from the railing and drew closer to me.
My gaze was on his golden eyes that were locked onto me as well. He then stood right in front of me and lowered himself. His eye contact didn’t waiver as he did so. I was taken aback by his closeness wondering what he was about to do. I leaned further back on the table when he reached his arm out, and it went past me.
I looked back and saw he was simply putting the cigarette he was done smoking in the ashtray on the table. My body was blocking it. Why didn’t he just ask me to move then? I wondered.
"Liar," he then whispered in my ear as he came away from me, sending shivers down my spine and my breathing hitched.
He turned his head to look at me with a smirk on his face and then moved away from me.
"Good night, Jasmine," he said to me as he headed inside the apartment.
"Good night, Louis," I replied in a stunned tone,
That boy....I thought to myself as I watched him leave, shaking my head. How annoying. There were times I would look at him and recall the kind boy I used to know and then there were other times he was different.
