KEITH’S POV
With my men somehow failing to find Jasmine, which was just ridiculous, I decided the easiest way to meet her was to go to her workplace. Since she was ignoring my calls.
The following day I had my schedule cleared for around the time Jasmine’s work shift ended.
I would have preferred to just barge into the restaurant and get her but I didn’t want to make a scene in front of people. I would speak to her when she was fine.
My intentions were simple I would talk to her and try to convince her to go back home.
Jasmine did ask for any money from but it was obvious she needed the money. She worked as a waitress of course she needed the money.
"Jasmine even if you’re mad at me, torturing yourself isn’t the answer," I tried to reason with her.
Jasmine be honest you can not afford to take care of yourself. I thought to myself. You might hate me but at least be reasonable.
Jasmine, however, insisted that she was fine. And I found myself shaking my head in disbelief.
She turned away from me and began to walk away. I grabbed her arm.
"Keith, let me go!" she complained. I didn’t let her go however. Though I didn’t know where she was staying yet I knew it couldn’t be good. I wouldn’t let her live like a destitute. I was unsure how else to talk some sense into her.
Imagine my surprise when someone just suddenly came to stand in-between us and removed my hand from Jasmine.
"The hell are you?" I angrily asked the intruder.
When he introduced himself as Louis Carrington, the owner of the restaurant I was shocked. What was he doing here? He personally knew Jasmine.
"Your soon-to-be ex-wife came to me asking for my help. I’m just doing as she asked," he told me.
What? Had Jasmine gone out of her way to bother someone else? How embarrassing I thought to myself. There was no need to involve outsiders in our matters.
"Jasmine leave the Carringtons out of this and come home," I told her.
"Actually, I forced her to accept my help," he boldy told me.
"And, why would you just help her with nothing in return?" I asked him. I then looked from him to her eyeing them properely.
"Wait, are you two together?" I asked them in disbelief. It was the only conclusion I could come to considering why else would he help her with nothing to benefit? Not only that but the way he standing beside her was very telling.
Neither of them denied me suggesting they were a couple. Jasmine had found a lover? There was no way.
I glared at Louis Carrington and in his eyes I found the gaze of a man who was challenging me. He was standing over her in a possessive manner. It pissed me off.
"Isn’t he younger than you? like he’s fresh out of college," I commented looking him up and down.
"You can now focus on Diana and Marco," she’d said.
However, Jasmine’s naivety was showing. She’d never been in a relationship before and the first guy she chose was someone too young for her. I found out Louis was just 23. He might be infatuated by Jasmine’s beauty but eventually his rose colored lenses would come off.
Jasmine had our son, there’s no way Louis would want to be a stepfather to someone else child. I know I wouldn’t want to raise some one else’s child. In the long run I didn’t see them lasting. Perhaps this was just a fling for him, whilst Jasmine was ready to risk it all. Telling me she was fine and didn’t need my money because she had him. He would dump her and leave her. What would she do then?
I returned to my office to continue working. I had planned to spend the rest of the evening getting Jasmine back in her house and trying to de-escalate the situation. However, I never could have foreseen what had happened. If I went home now, I would be too agitated and Diana would notice.
Edward then entered my office with some paperwork for me to sign.
"I want records on Jasmine’s bank account activity," I asked him when I was done signing the documents.
A look of confusion then appeared on his face.
"Ah sir, just asking, but isn’t Ms Diana the one in charge of your estates affairs?" Edward asked me.
"I would like to cross-check something so get them for me this time," I informed him.
"Very well sir," he accepted the order.
I had trusted Diana’s information this whole time, however, if Jasmine was insistent that Diana was lying to me. Enough for to leave me entirely, I suppose I should clarify.
