I Choose Him, Your Worst Enemy novel Chapter 101

Chapter 101 Trust Me, I Guarantee It

News about Joanne hiring gigolos quickly reached Adriel.

The second he heard Wynette had gone with her, he rushed straight over.

Finished

By the time he reached the private room, Joanne was already drunk out of her mind, tugging at the shirt of the man beside her while demanding to see his eight–pack abs.

Wynette was nowhere in sight.

Adriel’s expression instantly darkened.

Just as he stepped into the room, Wynette came walking in from outside, looking slightly dizzy.

After finally escaping the sea of men, Wynette had gone to find the bar manager.

Even though the gigolos had behaved themselves and sat properly on the couch without doing anything inappropriate, that still didn’t stop Joanne from drunkenly shouting one outrageous line after another.

Wynette’s face turned red every time she heard it. On top of that, she was surrounded by all those men. She wanted nothing more than to tape Joanne’s mouth shut.

Unfortunately, there was no reasoning with a drunk person.

So she had no choice but to ask the manager to send away the gigolos who were awkwardly sitting around the couch, exchanging helpless looks.

The whole thing was one giant social nightmare.

The moment she spotted Adriel’s rigid back, Wynette nearly sobered up on the spot.

She blinked hard and told herself, I must be drunk. Otherwise, why would I be seeing Adriel here?

I’m drunk. That must be it!

But the second she opened her eyes again, Adriel had already turned around to look at her.

Those deep eyes grew darker and darker.

Wynette sucked in a sharp breath. Oh, wow. I can actually see anger in Adriel’s eyes.

This has to be a drunken hallucination. There’s no way Adriel will show up here.

Absolutely no way.

Before Wynette could finish lying to herself, Adriel had already walked up to her, a cold pressure radiating off him as he stared straight at her.

Wynette nervously swallowed. “Um… you have to let me defend myself.

“No, wait, hear me out.” Realizing she’d said the wrong thing, Wynette hurriedly corrected herself.

Finished

Adriel raised a brow slightly at her, the look in his eyes practically saying, Go ahead. Explain.

His stare made Wynette’s scalp tingle. She looked like she was on the verge of tears. “Joanne was in a bad mood, so I…”

“Damn, these abs… and the feel of them too. Absolutely top–tier.” Joanne’s amazed voice suddenly cut off Wynette’s explanation.

Wynette and Adriel both fell silent.

Is it too late to strangle Joanne right now?

Wynette could clearly feel the temperature around Adriel dropping even further.

She forced out a smile as she looked at the man in front of her. “If I told you I didn’t hire the gigolos, would you believe me?”

Under his intense gaze, Wynette inexplicably felt guilty.

But I really didn’t hire them. I didn’t even touch any of them, so why am I so scared to face Adriel?

Thinking that, Wynette straightened her back and tried to act more confident, only to completely lose steam the second she looked at Adriel again.

Mainly because the man’s presence was way too overwhelming. Wynette honestly felt intimidated.

Adriel snorted coldly. “I believe you.”

One look was enough to tell that these gigolos had been hired by Joanne. As her brother, Adriel understood his sister well enough.

Especially seeing her drunkenly lifting men’s shirts right now. He seriously couldn’t bear to watch

inymore.

With just a single glance from him, the men surrounding Joanne immediately stood up in perfect unison and filed out of the room in an orderly line.

Very quickly, the once lively private room was left with only the three of them inside.

Watching everyone finally leave, Wynette quietly let out a sigh of relief.

Wow. She seriously passed out just like that, leaving me alone to face Adriel’s death stare. What an amazing best friend. Sharing the good times together, while I have to suffer through the disasters alone.

Adriel followed behind Wynette, then bent down and scooped Joanne into his arms. Looking at Wynette, he asked, “Can you walk? I’ll carry her to the car first. Stay here, and I’ll come right back for you.

Adriel’s gaze darkened noticeably.

Joanne quickly let go of Wynette and slumped back into her seat again.

Wynette snapped back to reality and immediately reached up, ready to push Adriel away, only to find the man had already calmly straightened back up as if nothing had happened.

Meanwhile, Wynette’s face had turned scarlet, burning so hot that it felt like it was on fire.

She turned her head and glared at her giggling best friend in the back seat, then gritted her teeth and sucked in a deep breath. She was seriously done.

Adriel calmly sat down in the driver’s seat like nothing had happened.

In reality, because of that unexpected kiss, his heart was racing so hard his hands were shaking. He couldn’t even fasten his seatbelt properly anymore.

It took Adriel three tries before he finally managed to buckle it.

Joanne noticed Wynette’s murderous stare, but she had absolutely no idea what she’d done wrong. Her head was spinning from the alcohol, and her behavior was completely out of control now.

Shaking her head, Joanne leaned forward drunkenly and let out a confused little sound. “Huh? This guy kinda looks like Adriel. Wynette, you actually hired one? Look at you, finally getting the hint.”

Wynette’s mouth twitched helplessly. She stared up at the ceiling in silence. How am I supposed to explain that this really is Adriel?

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Adriel’s expression darken completely. In her heart, Wynette silently prayed for her best friend.

Adriel reached out in disgust, clearly intending to shove Joanne’s head back.

But Joanne kept saying shocking things. “Wynette, stop hiring random pretty boys already. Adriel’s got eight–pack abs too. You can practically use them as a slide. Nobody’s better than Adriel. Trust me, I guarantee it.”

After saying that, Joanne even patted her chest proudly as if personally vouching for him.

Even drunk, she still remembered to promote her own brother whenever she got the chance.
