I Choose Him, Your Worst Enemy novel Chapter 105

Adriel dropped Joanne off at the law firm first.

On the way to Jewell Group with Wynette, the two of them were unusually quiet.

Finished

Wynette sat there with her hands clasped together. After everything that happened last night, being alone with Adriel now felt more than a little awkward.

“You took my pajamas home?”

Adriel was the first to break the silence.

And of all things, he picked the most awkward topic possible.

Wynette immediately sat up straighter. “Yeah. I’ll wash them before returning them to you.”

She had worn them, after all.

Wait. Did Adriel go looking for the pajamas?

Otherwise, how would he know I took them home?

Adriel smiled lightly. “You don’t have to go through all that trouble. I could’ve just tossed them into the washing machine myself,”

Wynette wanted to say that since she’d worn them, it’d be better if she washed them herself.

But for some reason, she just couldn’t get the words out.

The whole conversation felt weirdly intimate.

Since Adriel had brought up the pajamas, Wynette cleared her throat. “It’s fine, really. I should wash them. By the way, my clothes…”

“Oh, they’re still at my place. I washed them along with everything else last night. They’re probably still drying. The smile on Adriel’s face deepened slightly.

Wynette stared at the man beside her in shock.

He washed them last night?

Wynette awkwardly laughed. “Then… I’ll go pick them up another day when I have time. I’ll return the pajamas while I’m at it.”

“Sure.” Adriel nodded.

Looking at Wynette’s painfully awkward smile, he spoke again. “Nothing happened last night. But after I came out, you’d already fallen asleep. I tried covering you with a blanket, but you grabbed onto me and wouldn’t let go, so that’s why…”

Adriel chuckled softly. “Still, your habit of needing to hug something while you sleep is pretty unique.”

Chapter 105 You’d Better Give Me an Explanation Today

Finished

The moment she heard him say nothing had happened, Wynette finally let out the breath she’d been holding.

But after hearing the second half of his sentence, she instantly became embarrassed all over again.

She quickly explained, “I–I don’t have a habit like that.”

By the end, her voice had become so quiet that it was practically inaudible.

She thought about what had happened at the hospital before, and then this morning, and instantly lost all confidence. Guilt flickered across her face.

The main thing was, she genuinely didn’t have a habit of hugging things in her sleep.

She had no idea why she kept clinging to Adriel specifically.

This is so freaking embarrassing.

Noticing Wynette blush again from embarrassment, Adriel finally gave up on teasing her further.

He looked at her and asked, “You free tonight?”

Wynette answered, “I think so.”

She still had to go meet Ammius–Crocus at the convention later that afternoon, so she wasn’t sure what time she’d be back.

But judging from the way Adriel sounded, it seemed like he had something important to discuss, and Wynette figured coming back early wasn’t impossible.

Hearing her uncertain answer, Adriel continued, “Jamie’s arriving in Scenaville today. We’re having dinner tonight to welcome him, and I thought if you’re free, you could come along too.

Alice Tate will be there with him.”

Alice was the designer Adriel had previously shortlisted for Wynette from Lawrence Group’s official design

team.

Supposedly, she and Jamie were childhood sweethearts, and the only reason she stayed at Lawrence Group was because of him.

Jamie apparently brought Alice along on every business trip.

The moment Wynette heard that, she immediately responded, “Then I definitely have to make time. I can’t waste all the effort you went through to connect us.”

Nothing in the world was more important than this right now.

Even if she had other important plans, she’d make room for it.

Adriel glanced at her. “All right, then. Want me to pick you up tonight, or will you head over yourself?”

“She just got out of her lover’s car. For all we know, she spent the night at his house. Acting all pure and untouchable while cheating on my brother behind his back.”
