Chapter 104 I Swear, Nothing Happened

Joanne dragged Wynette straight back to her room.

She anxiously checked Wynette from head to toe.

Finished

Only after confirming there weren’t any suspicious marks on her body did Joanne finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Letting out a long breath, she said, “You scared me to death. I seriously thought my brother actually did something awful to you.”

Even though Adriel was her biological brother, Joanne still didn’t want some drunken one–night disaster happening to her best friend.

Wynette lowered her eyes guiltily.

How am I supposed to explain that I grabbed Adriel last night and made him show off his abs in a way that could totally be misunderstood?

Joanne studied her unusually silent friend and immediately sensed something was wrong. “You and Adriel didn’t actually…”

That shouldn’t be possible.

oanne silently complained to herself, With Adriel’s physique, there’s no way his stamina was that weak that he wouldn’t leave a single mark on Wynette.

That’s completely unrealistic.

If Wynette knew what Joanne was thinking right now, she probably would have wanted to dig a hole and nide in it.

That was mainly because she had absolutely no memory of what happened afterward.

Thinking about waking up in the same bed as Adriel that morning, Wynette’s cheeks turned red as she sat there, speechless.

Joanne abruptly stood up. “I’m going to ask Adriel.”

She was dying to know whether Adriel had really gone all the way with Wynette last night.

If something really had happened, then Joanne felt Adriel absolutely needed to take responsibility.

Wynette panicked and quickly grabbed Joanne. “No, no, nothing happened.”

This morning’s situation had already been awkward enough. If Joanne ran off to ask Adriel for details too, Wynette felt like she’d never know how to face him again.

“Really?” Joanne asked suspiciously, her eyes filled with suspicion as she stared at Wynette.

Wynette nodded frantically. “Really. Seriously. I swear, nothing happened.”

Finished

Only after hearing that did Joanne finally let go of her suspicions.

Joanne sat down beside Wynette and stared at her without blinking.

Wynette started getting creeped out by the intense gaze. “Wh–what?”

Joanne casually grabbed a pillow and hugged it in her arms before speaking seriously to Wynette. “Honestly, what do you think of Adriel?

I know you just got hurt by that trash ex, so you probably don’t want anything to do with relationships right now, but I genuinely think Adriel’s great. If you ever feel like dating again someday, maybe give him a chance?

‘Adriel’s seriously good at taking care of people. Being his girlfriend would be insanely amazing.” Joanne once again enthusiastically marketed her own brother.

Facing her friend’s relentless sales pitch, Wynette honestly didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

After Joanne put it that way, what else could she even say?

Besides, there was no need to become his girlfriend anymore. She’d already skipped several levels and become his wife instead.

Wynette straightened up and looked seriously at Joanne. “Joanne, there’s actually something I think I really need to tell you.”

“What?” Seeing Wynette’s serious expression, Joanne immediately became serious too.

Judging by the atmosphere, is Wynette about to confess that she and Adriel have secretly been together for a long time already?

Wynette really did want to tell Joanne about the marriage certificate.

But just as she was about to speak, someone knocked on the door.

Adriel’s voice came from outside. “Joanne, the clothes are outside the door.”

Since Adriel was usually the only one staying here, the house only had his clothes.

Joanne was still wearing yesterday’s outfit, which was wrinkled beyond saving at this point.

Meanwhile, even though Wynette was wearing Adriel’s oversized pajamas, she still looked more put together than Joanne.

The moment Adriel spoke, Joanne’s attention immediately shifted away from Wynette.

Looking disgustedly at her alcohol–smelling clothes, Joanne got up and opened the door.
