I Choose Him, Your Worst Enemy novel Chapter 107

Chapter 107 Should We Add More Fuel to the Fire?

After leaving Jewell Group, Adriel gave Blaze a call.

The second the call connected, Adriel said, “Release everything on Payton’s company.”

“Right now?” Blaze sounded shocked.

Didn’t we agree to wait until Wynette was ready?

The truth was, Adriel had always known Wynette was investigating Payton.

A lot of Payton’s dirt had actually been secretly handed over to Wynette through Adriel’s people.

But lately, Wynette had been too busy searching for designers for the fashion show and restructuring the company, so she’d temporarily set the matter aside.

What Eve and Payton did today by coming to cause trouble for Wynette, especially the disgusting things they said, crossed Adriel’s bottom line.

Since Wynette didn’t currently have time to deal with them herself, he didn’t mind stepping in for her. Adriel calmly replied to Blaze, “Do it now. Since Payton has so much free time to cause trouble for other people, her company doesn’t need to exist anymore either.”

He was clearly going for the kill this time.

Even through the phone, Blaze could hear the irritation in Adriel’s voice.

He couldn’t help sighing internally over how Payton had managed to provoke his boss again.

Actually, scratch that. More accurately, she’d provoked their future boss lady.

This whole move was obviously Adriel getting revenge for Wynette.

“Got it.” Blaze immediately hung up after responding.

Adriel lightly tapped his fingers against the steering wheel, his gaze dark and unreadable.

After thinking for a moment, he instructed his people to monitor the news at all times and suppress anything related to him and Wynette immediately.

He intended to completely prevent anyone from using the morning’s drama to stir up trouble and ruin Wynette’s mood again.

Not long after Wynette arrived at her office and sat down, she received a call from Adam.

Somehow, word about Eve and Payton causing trouble for Wynette had already reached him. Adam was worried that Wynette might’ve been wronged.

Listening to his concerned voice, Wynette softly replied, “It’s okay. I already handled it myself.”

Finished

Only after hearing that did Adam finally relax.

After a brief silence, he continued, “I heard that Gallagher boy was there this morning too? And that he stood up for you?”

There was a probing tone in Adam’s voice.

He’d already heard a few rumors himself, saying that ever since Wynette broke up with his grandson, she and Adriel seemed to be getting closer.

Especially after Adriel publicly reposted those statements before. It was enough to tell everyone their relationship clearly wasn’t as hostile as outsiders assumed.

Wynette answered honestly, “Joanne and I have always been close. He’s Joanne’s brother, so it’s impossible for me to never interact with him at all. I know you’re worried about me, but don’t worry. Adriel would never hurt me.”

The second she finished speaking, even Wynette herself froze.

She didn’t know why she’d suddenly said that, but she genuinely believed. Adriel would never hurt her. At the very least, he’d helped her many times already.

Although she didn’t know why Adam cared so much about this matter, Wynette didn’t think there was any reason to hide it.

“That Gallagher kid really is outstanding. Carl praises his grandson in front of me all the time. Don’t think I’m being nosy here, but if you ever get the chance, hold onto it. That boy’s thousands of times better than my useless grandson,” Adam said sincerely, full of praise.

Actually, the moment Wynette said she trusted Adriel not to hurt her, Adam already understood that the two of them were probably getting along quite well.

Adam occasionally kept in contact with Adriel’s grandfather, Carl Gallagher, over the phone, and more than once, he’d openly admitted how jealous he was of having such a capable grandson.

Too bad the good ones were always somebody else’s. All he could do was envy him.

Wynette originally thought Adam was calling to ask questions, but somehow, the conversation had completely drifted off course.

Why does this suddenly sound like he’s trying to matchmake me with Adriel?

Thinking that, Wynette coughed awkwardly. “Mr. Adam…”

Adam burst out laughing on the other end. “All right, all right. I won’t tease you anymore. Go focus on your work. Nobody from the Shepherds will bother you again. Just concentrate on your own life and don’t worry about me over here.”

At the end of the day, the real reason for this call was simply that he cared about Wynette.
