I Choose Him, Your Worst Enemy novel Chapter 129

After thinking for a moment, Adriel said to Wynette, "I'll have Blaze help investigate too."

The more people helping, the better the chances.

Wynette didn't refuse. "Okay. If we can't find him, then forget it. At this point, I'm just genuinely curious who he is. It's not like it has to be him specifically. Besides, even if we do find him and invite him, he might not agree anyway."

Based on everything so far, Wynette felt the man was honestly pretty strange.

His personality was probably unusual too. And people like that weren't always easy to get along with.

If he turned out to be difficult to deal with, bringing him on board would only create more trouble.

Wynette decided it was better to just let things happen naturally.

Adriel slowly spoke. "Wanna go try your luck now?"

The post had only been uploaded six minutes ago. Maybe if they went now, they'd still run into him.

In the end, the two of them headed together toward the banyan tree.

At that moment, the entire area beneath the tree was packed with people.

Wynette looked around at the constantly shifting crowd and instantly felt a headache coming on.

There was no way to tell which one of them might be Ammius-Crocus.

For a brief second, Wynette almost wanted to give up entirely.

Adriel carefully observed the surroundings as well before finally saying to her after a long while, "He's probably already gone."

He even suspected the other party had deliberately posted that social media update for Wynette to see.

Wynette nodded in agreement.

Adriel focused most of his attention on the edges of the crowd.

He wanted to see whether the person was secretly hiding nearby, watching all of this unfold. Maybe there was someone suspicious lurking around that he could drag out directly.

But there was nothing unusual around them besides tourists coming and going.

Everyone was busy doing their own thing. No one was secretly or deliberately staring at him and Wynette.

Wynette slowly withdrew her gaze and quietly said to Adriel, "I still think it might be Amias."

For some reason, that feeling inside her was incredibly strong.

This was already the second time Adriel had heard Wynette bring it up.

After thinking for a moment, he said, "Whether it's him or not, won't we know if we test it?"

Since Wynette still felt this strongly, he'd help her find the answer.

Otherwise, the matter would stay stuck in her mind and keep bothering her for a long time. And that would affect her mood.

Adriel didn't want to see Wynette unhappy.

Wynette stared at the man beside her in surprise. "I don't have any evidence at all. It's literally just a gut feeling. Even then, you're still willing to check? You don't think I'm just making a fuss?"

She truly hadn't expected Adriel to take her casual suspicion this seriously.

If it were anyone else, they'd probably think she was overthinking things.

Adriel looked directly into her eyes, the smile on his face deepening. "If you have doubts, then I trust you. Why would helping you find the truth mean you're being unreasonable?

"If something's bothering you, then helping you solve it is what I should do, isn't it? If we don't figure it out, you'll keep wondering whether it's true or not. I don't want you unhappy."

Wynette's heart softened at his words.

Not only did he not think her suspicions were ridiculous, but he'd immediately offered to help her search for the answer.

She suddenly realized something. No matter what happened, Adriel always put her first.

It was like every single time, he spoiled her unconditionally, without hesitation, without asking for anything back.

Wynette silently thought her reaction time was ridiculously slow for only noticing it now.

After a moment, she quietly said, "Thank you."

How am I even supposed to respond to that?

How have I never known that?

Why is he acting as if he'd just seen a ghost?

Gavin scratched his head. "Not strange. I just genuinely had no idea you could paint if you hadn't told me."

Amias immediately shot back, "Well, you never asked. It's not like I'd run after you saying, 'Look at me, I can paint, and I'm pretty good at it too.'"

By the time he finished speaking, Gavin had already stood up and walked over to the paintings.

One was a landscape painting. The other was a portrait.

Even someone completely clueless about art, like Gavin, couldn't help blurting out that they were incredible.

He genuinely had no idea Amias had such impressive painting skills.

The more Gavin looked, the more he liked them. He pulled out his phone camera and snapped photos of the paintings with a click.

Hearing the sound of the camera, Amias casually asked, "Why are you taking pictures?"

Gavin grinned. "They're seriously good. Even someone like me, who knows nothing about art, can appreciate them. Next time, paint one for me, yeah? I'll donate your paintings at the next charity gala auction."

The moment he finished speaking, Amias rewarded him with a deadpan glare.

Amias firmly declared, "It's not for sale. Stop getting ideas about my paintings."

"Okay." Gavin clearly didn't take the rejection seriously at all.

Instead, he turned around with a cheerful grin and looked at Amias. "I recently bought a new mansion, and my place just happens to need a few paintings. Paint me a portrait and an abstract piece as a housewarming gift. What do you think?"

As he spoke, Gavin enthusiastically gestured around, describing the dimensions he wanted for the paintings in his massive living room.

He really wasn't being polite about it at all.

Amias spared him a glance between strokes. "Meh, not interested."

"Hey, you little brat." Gavin hadn't expected him to refuse.

He immediately rolled up his sleeves and marched toward Amias, clearly preparing to have a serious talk with him.
