Chapter 23 I Will Wait Here
Because of the allergic shock, Wynette needed to stay in the hospital under observation for two days.
Two days later, it happened to be the official launch day of the
game.
It was also the day Wynette had agreed to register her marriage with Adriel.
Realizing that everything had ended up stacked onto the same day, Wynette no longer knew how to describe how she felt.
Her body still felt weak. After eating some chicken noodle soup, Wynette received a phone call from Jasmine.
Jasmine asked cautiously, “Wynette, are you feeling any better?”
She paused slightly, then asked slowly, “What happened?”
Jasmine knew about Wynette’s current condition.
After all, she had personally seen Adriel show up and carry Wynette out of the private dining room earlier.
Normally, when Wynette was sick, Jasmine would never take the initiative to call and bother her.
Unless something had happened that Jasmine could not handle on her own.
As soon as Wynette asked, Jasmine immediately explained what had happened at the studio.
After the group dinner, most of the staff had already gone back to their desks.
Lorelei and Noah came back together much later.
Everyone saw that Lorelei was carrying several luxury brand shopping bags.
Combined with the self-satisfied look on her face, it instantly stirred up resentment among many people.
Then they noticed the indulgent look Noah kept giving her.
Wynette was still lying in the hospital after going into allergic shock, yet Noah had spent the whole time accompanying Lorelei. Not only that, he had not even asked about Wynette once. That made everyone even more upset.
Everyone felt angry for Wynette, but they also remembered what she had told them before. In order to make sure the game launched smoothly, they had all been holding back.

Noah did not stay at the studio very long. After spending more than 10 minutes with Lorelei inside the office, he received a call from his assistant and rushed off.
Not long after he left, Lorelei called a meeting under the excuse that she wanted to familiarize herself with the game.
During the meeting, she proposed making changes to the game.
The points she raised all involved the emotional plotlines of the game’s NPC characters.
If her suggestions were considered, the main storyline of the game would be drastically altered, and the changes would have made no logical sense.
The entire game content, including all the optimization work, had only been finalized after everyone spent enormous effort testing it thousands of times.
Now, Lorelei, an outsider who had suddenly been inserted into the project, ignored everyone’s objections and began giving orders. That instantly pushed everyone’s anger to their breaking point.
At that moment, people in the conference room were still arguing fiercely with Lorelei. Jasmine had silently slipped out to call Wynette and warn her.
The situation had already escalated beyond what Jasmine could control.
Lorelei had directly called Noah and tearfully complained in a sweet, pitiful tone that everyone was refusing to cooperate with her work.
Without hesitation, Noah sided with Lorelei. In a stern voice, he told everyone not to make things difficult for her. Otherwise, there was no point in the game existing at all.
The two of them playing off each other pushed everyone’s frustration to the extreme.
Even through a closed door, Wynette could clearly hear the chaotic background noise through the phone.
Wynette frowned. “Hold them off for a bit. I’m heading back right now.”
She hung up immediately.
Fortunately, the IV drip had already finished. Wynette glanced at the catheter still taped to the back of her hand and slowly stood up.
Adriel, who had been nearby, noticed her movement and looked at her coldly. “Wynette, the doctor said you need to stay here for observation.”
Adriel had heard part of Jasmine’s call earlier.
He had simply listened quietly.

Now, watching Wynette get up, he understood exactly what she intended to do even without her saying anything.
She met his gaze. “I’ll come back right after I deal with it.”
Technically speaking, it did not count as leaving the hospital.
Adriel spoke again. “So your studio cannot function without you.”
“A lousy little studio that Noah does not even care about, yet you treat it as if it’s something precious. Wynette, there is no reason for that.”
He knew that Wynette had started the studio for Noah.
That was exactly why Adriel found the whole thing so ironic.
Wynette looked at him in silence for a long moment before finally speaking, “Adriel, it is not just something I started.”
“And it really does not have much to do with Noah anymore. I have fewer than 20 employees, but I still have a responsibility to them.”
When the studio was first established, they were all recent college graduates who had just stepped into society, full of hope for the future.
The conditions Wynette offered at the time were not the best. Some people had joined simply because they could not find better jobs and settled for the studio instead.
Even so, during their time there, every single person had given one hundred percent of their effort and dedication.
Among them, some had sick elderly family members they needed to support. Some had just gotten married and started families. Others were working hard for the sake of their partners.
Family responsibilities, financial obligations, car loans, and mortgages all weighed heavily on these young people.
Wynette was not only responsible for the colleagues who worked alongside her. She was also thinking about the many families standing behind them.

The only thing Wynette could do for them now was make sure the successfully, so everyone could receive their bonuses and their share of the profits. Those were rewards they had earned through hard work.
She did not know whether Adriel would understand what she was saying.
To be honest, Wynette did not really expect him to understand.

Thinking about that, Wynette looked away. Even if Adriel keeps tries to stop me, I won’t listen to him.
I have to go back.
Adriel quickly walked toward her. “Let’s go. I’ll drive you.”
This time, Wynette was the one caught off guard.
