After Noah brought Lorelei back to the office, his expression was extremely grim.

The truth was, Wynette’s words from the conference room were still echoing in Noah’s mind.

The more he thought about them, the darker his face became.

How did things end up like this?

Lorelei noticed Noah’s mood as well and felt uneasy.

After all, today’s situation had started because of her.

At first, Lorelei had been confident that Noah would stand on her side no matter what.

But judging from the way he acted in the conference room earlier, she was no longer certain.

She quietly watched Noah’s expression, biting her lip as she wondered how to speak.

“Noah.” Lorelei gently tugged at his sleeve and muttered softly, “Did I mess everything up?”

Before Noah could respond, tears welled in her eyes. “It’s my fault. Maybe I should go apologize to Wynette and explain things to her so she won’t stay angry with you.

“You don’t have to worry. Even if I have to kneel and beg Wynette, I’ll fix things between the two of you. It’s because of me that there’s a rift between you two. I really deserve the blame.”

As she spoke, Lorelei grabbed her head and began hitting and pulling at herself in distress.

Seeing her like that, any words Noah might have had to blame her disappeared immediately.

Just as he was about to step forward, Lorelei suddenly shoved him aside and ran toward the desk, sobbing as if she meant to slam into it.

Luckily, Noah reacted in time. He pulled her straight into his arms and held her tightly. “Lorelei, this isn’t your fault.”

From the way she was acting, it was obvious she was having another episode.

Noah skillfully pulled a pill bottle from his pocket and placed the medicine into Lorelei’s mouth.

He held her firmly while patting her back, soothing her in a gentle voice. “It’s okay. Everything’s fine now. I’m here.”

The ease of his movements made it obvious he had done this many times before.

Lorelei had been trembling and struggling earlier, but under Noah’s calm reassurance, she

gradually settled down.

She wrapped her arms tightly around his waist and buried her face in his chest as she sobbed. “I’m sorry, Noah. You’re the only one I have left. Please don’t leave me.”

Hearing that, Noah continued comforting her. “I’m here. I’ve always been here.”

Lorelei’s body still trembled as she clung to him tightly.

Noah let her hold him until her breathing slowly steadied, then he gently loosened his arms.

“I’ll take you home first.” Noah’s voice sounded rough.

In Lorelei’s condition, it was obvious she should not stay at the studio any longer.

Hearing that, Lorelei lowered her head and spoke guiltily. “But… what about the game? Maybe I should go talk to Wynette again.

“You said yourself that this game means a lot to her. And you were looking forward to the game about your story together being released, too, weren’t you? I should go talk to Wynette again.

Wynette’s determined expression from the conference room flashed through Noah’s mind again.

He pressed his lips together and stayed silent for a long moment before speaking. “No. I’ll talk to her myself later. Lorelei, just keep the title attached to your name. You don’t need to get involved with the rest of the work.

“I only added your name for publicity anyway. You don’t need to work so hard on it. While saying that, Noah gently patted Lorelei’s head.

From the moment Lorelei joined the team, everyone had already been uncomfortable about it. Noah knew very well that bringing someone new into the project so late would never convince people easily.

That was why he had immediately gone to Wynette and asked her to calm the team down.

For the sake of the game, Wynette would definitely follow his arrangement.

And she did.

Noah also wanted to maintain a good relationship with the studio staff, which was why he agreed when Lorelei suggested organizing a group dinner.

He had thought that by doing all that, everything would be settled.

Who would have expected that just a few suggestions from Lorelei would turn things into such

a mess?

Noah knew how important this game was to Wynette. Earlier in the conference room, both of them had been so confrontational that neither spoke rationally.

He planned to settle Lorelei first, then go find Wynette and talk things through properly.

When Lorelei heard Noah say she no longer needed to be involved in the game, the pitiful look on her face vanished instantly.

She lowered her eyes while her hands slowly clenched at her sides.

Noah claimed he did not blame her, yet his actions clearly showed he was siding with Wynette.

He still intended to keep investing in the game.

After everything she had done, Noah was no longer as firmly on her side as before.

That realization gave Lorelei a faint sense of crisis.

But…

She had never expected that Wynette’s game would actually be destroyed because of today’s incident.

Lorelei knew that the outcome was unrealistic.

The reason she insisted on causing trouble today was simply to irritate Wynette and make her uncomfortable.

Now that her goal had been achieved, Lorelei told herself there was no need to rush. She had plenty of time in the future to keep bothering Wynette.

Thinking that, Lorelei nodded obediently. “Okay. I’ll listen to you, Noah. Can you take me home? The medicine is making my head feel heavy.”

As she spoke, Lorelei pretended to stand up but staggered and leaned into Noah.

Thinking about how she had almost hurt herself earlier, Noah still felt uneasy.

He nodded. “I’ll take you home now.”

Hearing that, Lorelei smiled brightly at him.

Noah looked at her smile and did not notice the calculating look that flashed through her eyes.

Using the excuse that the medicine made her dizzy, Lorelei leaned on Noah as he supported her out of the office.
