I Choose Him, Your Worst Enemy novel Chapter 35

Chapter 35 Three Attempts and No Bride

Noah thought that if he lowered himself and tried to make Wynette happy, things would go back to how they used to be.

No matter what, he believed she would be just as happy as before.

But he never expected Wynette to ignore him completely.

She didn’t respond at all. She shut him out.

That only made the anger he’d been holding in burn even stronger.

He stared at her with a serious look. “Forget it. I know you’re sick and in a bad mood. I won’t argue with you.”

In the end, Noah made an excuse for her.

He told himself it wasn’t a big deal and decided to let it go.

But Wynette still had her back to him. The frustration in his chest only grew heavier.

Noah sat down beside her bed again.

Did she really think staying silent would win this?

Fine. He would wait and see who gave in first.

Holding back his anger, Noah stayed by her bedside.

Wynette sensed what he was trying to do; she felt a sudden tension rise in her chest.

She didn’t believe Noah was doing this because he cared about her. More likely, he was reacting to her cold attitude.

What worried her more was something else: what if Adriel came back and ran into Noah here?

The more she thought about it, the worse it felt. Several times, she almost got up to kick Noah out.

Now he shows up? Where is he when I need him?

I really hated this kind, especially when it came from a man who wasn’t loyal.

Can this jerk just leave already?

Wynette pulled the blanket tighter around herself. Her face stayed cold, lips pressed together, silently wishing Noah would leave soon.

Honestly, what is Lorelei doing? Didn’t she used to look for Noah the second he went missing?

Is she dead?

Where are the calls? The messages?

If there were a rating system, Wynette would give her a big, fat failing grade.

Wynette couldn’t help but quietly complain about Lorelei in her head.

She even wondered if she should do what she had done before–stir things up a little and let Lorelei know Noah was here.

But before she could do anything, Noah’s phone suddenly rang.

Right on cue. She knew that ringtone all too well.

It was the one Noah had set just for Lorelei.

Wynette almost jumped out of bed to celebrate.

Noah stood by the bed, staring at his phone for a moment, hesitating.

Then he walked aside and answered the call.

Even though he lowered his voice, Wynette could still catch bits and pieces.

Same old story. Lorelei was upset again and wanted to see him right away.

Wynette perked up, listening closely. Noah had just started to say he was busy when a sharp, hysterical scream came through the phone.

After that, he went silent.

He held the phone, his expression turning tense.

Lorelei’s crying filled his ears. For the first time, Noah felt a flicker of annoyance.

Even so, he held it in and didn’t lose his temper.

Wynette lay under the blanket and could still hear Lorelei crying her heart out. She clicked her tongue and shook her head.

That woman could really make a scene. Even from this far away, the noise carried clearly. Her lungs were seriously strong. Wynette almost admired how fast those tears came.

While she was thinking that, Noah had ended the call.

He stood there and looked at the woman on the bed who still ignored him. His eyes darkened.

After a moment, he said, “I need to step out for a bit. I’ll come back later and stay with you.”

After a long inner struggle, Noah chose Lorelei in the end.

Wynette had expected that.
