Loves Me Right. Finally
Chapter 43 She Won’t Settle
It was close to evening when Wynette and Joanne arrived at the Lux Club.
This was where they had agreed to meet Marcus.
When they got there, however, Marcus wasn’t around yet.
There was only five minutes left before the scheduled time.
Joanne’s face darkened. She snorted coldly, “Don’t tell me he’s going to show up at the last second.”
She really didn’t like guys like Marcus–rich, lazy, and full of themselves.
If he weren’t willing to pay a high price for Wynette’s shares, she wouldn’t even bother with him.
Wynette held her coffee and gave Joanne a calm look, telling her to relax.
She already knew Marcus was doing this on purpose.
A
They hadn’t ended on good terms before.
Now that he had the chance, there was no way he’d behave himself.
And sure enough, just like Joanne guessed, Marcus walked into the private room right on time.
They had agreed on 5:30.
He showed up at 5:31.
“Sorry,” Marcus said as he pulled out a chair and sat down. “Couldn’t find parking. Took a bit longer.”
He glanced at the time and waved it off. “One minute. That’s not late, right?”
He looked smug.
Joanne rolled her eyes, already cursing him in her head.
Wynette stayed calm. “It’s fine. I know you have your own way of keeping time.”
She didn’t let him get away with it.
This was business, yes, but if Marcus wanted to show off in front of me, he picked the wrong person.
I didn’t have to make this deal.
Marcus was the one who wanted my shares. And now he was acting like this? Ridiculous!
The smile on Marcus’s face faded right away.
He didn’t expect Wynette to push back like that.

Chapter 43 She Won’t Settle
A simple polite reply would’ve smoothed things over, but she chose to call him out.

He wasn’t happy about this. “Wynette, you look so serious. No wonder Noah goes to other women. A woman should treat a man a little more gentle sometimes. Men don’t like roses with thorns.”
He clearly didn’t want to lose this round.
He purposely brought up Noah and Lorelei.
Everyone knew Noah was Wynette’s boyfriend, but he had been getting close to his ex, not caring how it made Wynette look.
Joanne’s eyes darkened. She was about to speak, but Wynette stopped her.
Wynette looked at Marcus calmly. “Mr. Whitmore, are you here to mock me, or are you here to do business?”
She asked it straight.
Marcus leaned back in his chair, tapping the table with one hand. “Of course I’m here for business. But there’s something I’m curious about.”
He looked her up and down, a teasing smile on his face. “I heard Noah stood you up twice at City Hall. Both times for his old flame. So now you want to sell your shares in the studio you started together; is this your way of getting back at him?”
“You can talk business, or you can leave.” Joanne slammed her cup down.
Even having coffee couldn’t shut this man up. A grown man gossiping like that–seriously, how disgusting.
Joanne had been holding back her anger from the start, but some people just had no sense at all. He kept pushing, acting like he wanted to annoy everyone on purpose.
She wasn’t the type to just stay quiet.
Marcus looked irritated and was about to argue back. But when he saw it was Joanne who spoke, he swallowed his words.
Wynette let her finish. Then she raised an eyebrow and looked at Marcus. “Mr. Whitmore, can we talk now?”
Her voice was soft, with a faint smile.
Marcus froze for a second. Before coming here, he had asked around about Wynette. Wasn’t she supposed to be bad at negotiating?
That little money? Who was he trying to fool? This wasn’t some flea market deal.
Everyone had underestimated her.

shares?
Her first game turned into a huge hit. Even now, it was still the studio’s biggest title, bringing in good profits.
After giving Noah his share, Wynette had invested most of her money into the Jewell Group.
If she had known earlier about the issues inside the Shepherd Group, she would never have moved all that money over.
Marcus smiled slightly. “Ms. Jewell, I know you want to sell fast. I can raise the price by ten percent. How
about that?”
Wynette shook her head again. “Sorry. Looks like we won’t reach a deal today.”

Her refusal was firm.
Her tone left no room for negotiation.

Marcus was surprised. He thought she was in a hurry to sell, which was why he kept his offer low. Now things were getting tricky.
He knew the price Wynette wanted was probably outside what he was willing to pay. If that was the case, there was no point continuing.
He frowned, weighing his options.
Compared to Marcus’s hesitation, Wynette stayed calm.
She wasn’t in a rush.
