Chapter 54 We Go Our Separate Ways
In the end, Adriel stopped because Wynette held him back.
His face turned cold. He shook her hand off without a word.
Wynette could tell he was mad at her.

She saw the cut on the corner of his mouth, blood still there. Her chest tightened. She stepped forward, about to check on him.
But before she could move, Adriel walked past her. He spoke to the manager who had just rushed in. “Throw them out. From now on, this club doesn’t welcome people like them.”
Then he left the room.
Wynette stood there, frozen, watching his back as he walked away.
Did I do something wrong?
Why did he just look at me like that? So cold.
The manager got the order and quickly moved to clear the room.
Lorelei’s eyes were red from crying. She helped Noah to his feet.
Noah’s face was covered in blood. He had taken a bad beating.
Even so, his eyes stayed locked on Wynette.
When he saw her staring at Adriel’s back, his eyes narrowed. His voice turned cold. “Wynette, when did you get involved with Adriel? Is that why you want to call off the engagement?
“Aren’t you two supposed to hate each other? How long have you been sneaking around behind my back?” He couldn’t think of any other reason. Why else would Adriel get so angry and stand up for her tonight?
The way Adriel fought for her was evidence they had cheated on him.
His gaze darkened. He felt betrayed.
This slut had put a cuckold on him.
Wynette almost laughed at how he twisted the truth.
She looked at him and spoke calmly. “First, I broke up with you because you couldn’t stay loyal. You were the one who messed up.
“Noah, don’t hide behind ‘just friends‘ to explain whatever is going on between you and Lorelei.”
“Every time you ignored me for her, every time you blamed me for nothing, your relationship with her stopped being innocent. I want a partner who knows boundaries. Not someone like you.”

She paused, then went on. “Secondly, you’re the one who never got along with Adriel. Not me. You said plenty of bad things about him in front of me. I don’t need to repeat them.
“You wanted to look generous outside, so you pushed the blame onto me. You made it seem like I was the one who had a problem with him.
“Noah, you’re pretty immature. If you don’t like someone, you force everyone around you to take your side. No one is allowed to even talk to him.”
Thinking back, Wynette almost wanted to slap her past self. She had been so blinded by love. So foolish.
Honestly, she deserved getting hurt by a guy like Noah.
But luckily, it wasn’t too late.
Wynette suddenly felt grateful that she had never married him. Maybe fate had been trying to warn her all along.
