Chapter 55 A Fight, A Secret, and a Crush
Wynette felt torn.
Should I… go to Adriel and check on him?
When he left, his face was bruised.
The more she thought about it, the more worried she became.
She didn’t even hear Joanne going on and on, cursing Noah over and over.
All Wynette could think about was Adriel’s injuries.
As Joanne kept talking, she brought up the fight between Adriel and Noah.
Honestly, it scared her.

Growing up, her brother had always been cold, but he was never a bad person. She had never seen him that fierce before.
Just thinking about the way he and Noah fought in the room still made her uneasy.
Especially the way Adriel walked out at the end–cold and distant, like he was angry at someone.
Wait a second…
Joanne suddenly realized something. Now she knew why it felt so strange.
Her brother had stepped in for Wynette.
Even if that jerk threw the first punch, the whole thing started because of her.
Joanne turned to look at her friend, studying her carefully. Then she asked again, confused, “Were you and
my brother really not getting along before?”
From what she had seen these past few days, they didn’t look like they disliked each other at all.
So what was the truth? Were the rumors wrong, or was my best friend and my brother just really good at pretending?
Joanne was full of questions and needed answers.
Wynette snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the question. How was I supposed to answer that?!
By now, they had already returned to their orginal room. Joanne kept staring at her.
With that kind of pressure, Wynette sighed quietly.
She knew she had to give a reasonable explanation.
After thinking for a moment, she answered honestly, “It’s not that. It’s just, Noah didn’t want me to have much contact with your brother. He kept saying bad things about him.

“And the few times I ran into your brother, he always looked cold, like he didn’t want to talk to anyone. Sometimes, the way he looked at me felt a little impatient, kind of distant. It was obvious. I wasn’t about to be the one to break the ice. So, you know how it turned out.”
They rarely talked. They didn’t even nod when they passed each other; things stayed awkward. On top of that, Noah didn’t get along with Adriel. But he still pretended otherwise and quietly influenced things. In the end, it turned into Wynette and Adriel not getting along.
After hearing all that, Joanne almost laughed in anger. “Yeah, they don’t like each other. Honestly, if you hadn’t picked Noah before, I wouldn’t have stayed quiet. Forget Adriel, even I can’t stand him.”
Joanne had never liked Noah. There wasn’t any special reason. She just didn’t.
She was the kind of person who trusted her first impression.
If she liked someone, she would give her all to the friendship. But if she didn’t like someone, she wouldn’t force it. She wouldn’t even bother being polite.
That’s why she had always disliked Noah. Every time she met Wynette, she would complain about him.
Before, out of respect for Wynette, she only made a few sarcastic comments.
Now? Joanne let out a quiet scoff in her heart.
From now on, every time she saw that jerk, she was going to call him out. No way she’d let him lift his face in public.
