Chapter 99 I Really Can’t Take This

Not a single dish on the table contained seafood, and even the fruit platter carefully avoided grapes.
That alone was enough to show just how thoughtful the old man was.
Wynette took the initiative to break the silence. “Mr. Adam, how long are you planning to stay in Scenaville this time?”
In the past, Adam would usually only stay for a day or two before returning to the countryside to rest.
Wynette had assumed it would be the same this time.
Adam smiled as he replied, “I’m not planning to leave anymore. That brat hid something like this from me this time. I’m not going anywhere now.”
After that incident, Wynette hadn’t deliberately inquired about what Adam had done to Justin and Noah.
The only reason she knew Noah had been disciplined was because he had come to find her that night.
Wynette ate quietly. She had no position to comment on the Shepherds’ family matters.
Noticing her silence, Adam sighed softly. “I’ve heard about the livestream. You’ve been wronged, child.”
Wynette still shook her head lightly. “It’s fine.”
She didn’t tell him about Payton’s involvement either.
However, since Adam knew so much already, did that mean today’s visit was also related to all of these?
He could tell clearly that Wynette didn’t want to further discuss it in front of him.
So, he tactfully changed the topic.
“Oh right.” He pulled out a senior-friendly smartphone from his pocket, poking at the screen with his finger.
Holding it far away from his face, he squinted slightly. “I asked Luca to buy me a phone and install that messaging app. Let me add you into my contact list. If anything happens in the future, just contact me directly. I’ll stand up for you.”
As he spoke, he continued tapping clumsily on the screen.
Seeing how difficult it was for him, Wynette set down her utensils. “Here, Mr. Adam. Let me help you.”
Adam immediately handed the phone over.
Wynette opened the app and found that the account was freshly registered. The name was simply ‘Adam,’ with not a single person in his contact list.
Fresh. Completely fresh.

She took out her own phone, scanned his QR code, and saved his number into her app contact list. Then did the same for Adam, adding her own number to his app contact list.
“All done,” she said, returning the phone.
Adam waved his hand. “Help me save your name under ‘Winnie,’ please.”
I really can’t keep up with these young people’s gadgets anymore.
If it weren’t for the need to contact Wynette easily, he felt a landline would’ve been more than enough.
Then he added, “Oh, and save your number in my phonebook too. It’ll be easier to call you.”
Wynette updated her name, then opened the built-in phonebook in the phone and found, again, there was nothing inside.
She saved her own number and dialed it.
After one ring, she hung up and smiled. “Done, Mr. Adam.”
Then she added his phone number in her own phonebook as well.
Adam smiled warmly. “Ah, Winnie really is patient. Now it’ll be much easier for me to contact you.”
Hearing his words, Wynette smiled back. “You can contact me anytime.”
She could clearly feel the kindness radiating from him.
“Also,” Adam said, taking out a document folder from beside him, “sign this.”
Wynette froze slightly as she accepted it.
Under his gentle but expectant gaze, she opened the folder. The moment she saw its contents, she was stunned.
It was a share transfer agreement for the Shepherd Group.
Adam was transferring eight percent of Shepherd Group’s shares to her.
Wynette quickly pushed the document back toward him. “Mr. Adam, please don’t joke with me. I can’t take this.”
