"I-I accidentally saw it on her ID once."
Jorrod didn't dwell on it. Looking down, he efficiently typed the numbers into the keypad.
Right as he pressed the final digit.
The phone, having survived on standby for days, finally gave out. The screen went completely black, shutting down automatically.
"Forget it. Never mind," Jorrod said coolly, turning on his heel to head back upstairs.
In the bedroom, he leaned over, pulled open a drawer, and tossed the dead phone inside.
Downstairs, the two of them watched Mr. Vaughn disappear around the corner before Wesley nervously spoke up. "Do you think Ms. Quinn was serious about buying me dinner?"
Stella glared at him. "Dinner? If I were Ms. Quinn, I'd poison your food!"

For the next few days, Sienna kept a very close eye on Jorrod.
Seeing that he was acting completely normal, the heavy anxiety in her chest finally dissipated.
Thinking about it rationally, the facial recognition was set to her, and the passcode was her birthday.
Jorrod probably couldn't guess it to save his life.
On Friday, Sienna received good news via a text from the contractor.
He informed her that the walls were completely repaired and she could move back in as soon as she cleaned up the dust.
Sienna didn't linger after work; she drove straight to her apartment.
The workers had draped protective plastic over the larger furniture, so all she had to do was sweep, mop, and unpack the essential items she had boxed away in the bedroom.
It sounded simple, but the cleaning took her over an hour.
Collapsing onto the couch, her gaze drifted toward the window.
The curtain rod had been reinstalled, and the window was cracked open, allowing a gentle evening breeze to slip into the room. The curtains billowed softly like rolling hills before slowly settling back down.
Back in college, Sienna loved wearing dresses.
But ever since she started working, the daily grind had taken its toll. Her closet was now dominated by comfortable t-shirts and slacks.
The last time she wore a dress was when she was trying to sneak out for a date with Jorrod, only to get caught by her parents.
Sienna was exhausted and couldn't be bothered to overthink an outfit.
She simply threw on the exact same ensemble from that day.
It wasn't until she arrived at the restaurant that she realized the truth.
Her makeup was pointless. The dress was pointless. Her showing up at all...
Was completely pointless.
Liana jumped out of her seat, desperate to give the two of them some privacy.
As she scurried past Sienna, she pressed her hands together in a frantic, whispered apology. "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to trick you, but I just couldn't let you go! Please just talk to him today—you can yell at me or hit me later, I swear I'll take it!"
