Jorrod was leaning back in his seat, his right hand resting casually on the steering wheel. He had taken off his suit jacket and tossed it onto the back seat. The cuffs of his crisp shirt were rolled up twice, exposing his strong forearms and the luxury watch encircling his wrist.
In the dim light of the parking garage, half of his sharply defined face was hidden in shadows.
Jorrod rarely waited for anyone.
Though the car was spacious, sitting in the stagnant, poorly circulated air of the underground lot for an extended period was stifling. With his long legs bent awkwardly in the confined space, the wait was proving to be an irritating test of patience.
He had been sitting there, enduring this suffocating boredom for over an hour since she got off work.
Hearing her voice, he turned his head. Through the window, he saw her face peering in. She must have jogged over; loose strands of hair framed her forehead, and her cheeks were dusted with a faint, rosy flush.
He stared at her for two seconds.
Whatever irritation or restlessness had built up from the cramped wait instantly shattered into nothingness.
She was here. That was all that mattered.
He withdrew his gaze. "Get in."
What could possibly be so complicated that he couldn't just hand it through the window? Sienna didn't move. "Can't you just give it to me? I'm in a hurry to get home."
Jorrod looked back at her, his brow knitting into a slight frown. "How are you going to go home if you don't get in?"
Catching the implication, Sienna's eyes widened. "You're giving me a ride?"
Without waiting for an answer, she stood up straight and waved her hands frantically. "No, no need. I drove my own car, just give..."
Jorrod cut her off with a single, uncompromising command: "Get in."
Sienna took a deep breath, trying to keep her facial expressions in check.
Fine. The one holding her property hostage made the rules.
Shooting him a long, exasperated look, she walked around the front of the car and reached for the back door handle...
"Sit in the front."
With a heavy thud, Sienna yanked open the passenger door and threw herself into the seat.
