For the first time ever, Sienna opened her own bedroom door with the stealth of a thief.
After using the restroom, she instinctively glanced toward the living room.
It was pitch black, but the bright moonlight spilling through the curtains illuminated the man on the sofa.
His tall, muscular frame was crammed onto the cushions. His long legs dangled awkwardly, making him look utterly miserable and cramped.
Hearing her movements, the dark figure sat up and called out softly, "Sienna."
"You're not asleep?" she asked.
"Yeah, I can't sleep."
Sienna couldn't help herself. "Why not?"
"It's too narrow. It's a little... uncomfortable."
His pathetic, aggrieved tone was agonizing.
It made her feel like a wicked stepmother forcing her giant stepson to sleep in a dog bed.
Sienna's silence caused panic to lace his voice. "Just a little bit! I can still sleep here."
Sienna ignored his backpedaling and walked over. In the dim light, she could easily see the faint red mark on his handsome face and the utter helplessness in his eyes.
Her resolve crumbled. "Go sleep in my room."
It was just for a few days. She could endure it.
Surprisingly, Jorrod didn't move. He tilted his head slightly. "What about you?"
"I'll sleep on the sofa."
"No." His refusal was absolute.
Honestly, his commanding tone would have sounded incredibly dominating under any other circumstance. But given that he was the reason she was in this mess, Sienna found it ridiculous.
"You can't fit on the sofa, but I can. If you really care about me, you'll listen. Otherwise, get out of my house and go sleep in whatever room you want."
Threatening to kick him out was usually her trump card, but tonight, it failed completely.
The man on the sofa didn't budge, his head bowed.
"A little uncomfortable" was a massive understatement. He knew exactly how agonizing that cramped sofa was, and there was no way in hell he was letting his Sienna sleep there.
Even if she kicked him out...
