That name felt entirely too burning on his tongue.
After rolling it around his mouth, George ultimately compromised and used the full name. "Jorrod."
"I misunderstood you about the factory incident, and I apologize for accidentally injuring you back then," George said, pressing his lips together. "But that does not mean I'll agree to let you date her just out of guilt."
Jorrod had already taken off his dark gray overcoat, tossing it casually over the armrest of the sofa. The black turtleneck underneath accentuated his sharp, clean jawline. He sat back, his long legs spread apart, exuding an aura of untouchable distance.
His eyes were no longer the clear, innocent pools they once were. They were dark, deep, and utterly unreadable.
Addressing George's first point, Jorrod replied smoothly, "The misunderstanding only happened because I failed to monitor my own medical condition properly. At the end of the day, the fault lies entirely with me. As for the 'accidental injury,' no real harm was done, so it's merely a slip of the hand. George, there is absolutely no need for you to feel guilty."
Hearing this, Sienna frowned, opening her mouth to interject.
Playing the victim was an incredibly cunning tactic.
But she never got the chance to speak. Without even looking at her, Jorrod squeezed her hand tightly, silently telling her to let him handle it.
"You said you lost your memory, forgot your past with Sienna, and it led to your breakup. As an outsider, I could understand that," George continued. "But I am not just an outsider. I am Sienna's father."
"When two people get together, it's not just about their personalities matching; it's about the families behind them. Our Sienna isn't equipped to navigate high society or wealthy families. If mother-in-law drama ever happens, her mother and I won't be able to protect her."
Sienna's expression shifted, instinctively looking over at Jorrod.
From her angle, she could only see his sharp jawline and perfectly neutral lips.
When he spoke, his voice was as calm as still water. "George, both my parents passed away in an accident when I was three years old."
