I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 40

Scott felt a wave of relief.

God was fair after all. He gave the guy a perfect face, but sealed off his brain with a thick, concrete wall.

Smiling again, Scott asked, "Sienna, where have you been these past few days?"

Sienna looked up.

Staring past the endless aisles of snacks, her eyes landed on the flat-screen TV mounted on the wall.

The screen was playing the local Aurelia morning news. It wasn't formal or stiff; the anchor was perfectly made up, smiling warmly as she reported on the latest city gossip.

She watched it for a few seconds before looking back. "Just dealing with some issues at work."

Scott offered eagerly. "Is there anything I can help with? Just say the word!"

Sienna let out a soft laugh, effortlessly deflecting the question. "Nothing solves work problems faster than jumping to a new company."

Scott frowned, taking her words completely seriously.

He thought about it.

Right now, she worked nearby, so he got to see her every few days.

Even if she didn't come in, he just had to look up to see her office building.

There was no real distance between them.

But changing jobs meant she might leave the area.

The good news was she would still be in Aurelia, but if she moved too far away... casual chats like this would become a luxury.

Scott suddenly looked up. "Changing jobs? Sienna, where are you thinking of going?"

Sienna didn't answer right away.

She put on a troubled expression, pretending to be stressed about her career, while her brain frantically calculated how to ditch the massive liability standing behind her.

Across from her, Scott wasn't about to let the conversation die.

"Do you have a place in mind?" he rambled on. "What about Stellaris Corp? It's one of the top companies in the country. With your talent, you could definitely get in!"
