I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 57

The Patriarch's wrath was genuine. His chest heaved violently, and his wrinkled face flushed crimson as he trembled.

Crushed beneath his overwhelming authority, Madeline pressed her lips tight, falling silent.

Theron quickly stepped in to soothe him. "Dad, I told you, my private teams are far more efficient than the authorities, and their resources run deeper. If they can't find a lead, the police definitely won't."

He patted his father's shoulder repeatedly. "Rest easy, Dad. Jorrod is tough as nails. He's going to be fine."

As soon as Theron's words settled into the room.

A sudden, mocking scoff echoed from the corner.

Zachary hadn't joined the conversation. He was simply leaning back on the sofa, legs crossed, playing a game on mute.

Eyes glued to his screen, he drawled, "Oh yeah, Jorrod's invincible. Even fire couldn't kill him. He just snagged a free extra life."

His voice wasn't loud, but in the dead silence of the room, his casual, lazy tone was sickeningly abrasive against the grim atmosphere.

"Tsk, he died." Zachary's brow finally furrowed. "Oh, I mean in the game."

"What do you mean, Jorrod?! Zachary! That's your cousin! Your blood!" Theodore pointed a trembling finger at him in rage.

"My blood? When he forced Seraphina out of Aurelia, he certainly didn't seem to care that we were family."

Zachary finally dragged his deep-seated resentment out into the open.

Seraphina Sterling had been the woman Zachary was meant to marry, until she accidentally stood in the path of Jorrod's business ambitions.

Jorrod had shown absolute zero mercy to his cousin, systematically driving Seraphina into a corner. Zachary had been overseas at the time, completely oblivious. By the time he found out and tracked her down, she was utterly broken and had already married someone else...

That betrayal had festered into an open wound for Zachary. He would never forgive Jorrod's cold-blooded ruthlessness.

Theron glared at his son. "Zachary! It's been four or five years, and you're still using one woman as an excuse to pick a fight with him! I told you, that subject is closed!"

Maintaining his signature indifferent smirk, Zachary let out a harsh chuckle. "Right. You're all so noble. If you're so worried about him, call the cops. Tell the whole world."

"But you won't. You don't have the guts. Think of all the money we'd lose."

"Enough! What does a little girl like you know? Go back to your homework!"

Working remotely allowed Sienna to keep a constant eye on Jorrod.

Whenever Elara was free, they would take him to the hospital for his follow-up scans.

Everything seemed relatively normal.

Except that Jorrod's memory stubbornly refused to return. After days of living together, he had only grown more excessively clingy.

Wherever Sienna went, the towering figure followed her like a devoted puppy.

Jorrod was incredibly obedient.

He hung on her every word, and aside from his occasional pouty demands for a hug, their dynamic was surprisingly peaceful.
