Chapter 155
“You just seem so much more at peace today and happier. Did you talk to Liam?” she asked.
Talya felt a tug on her heart at his name. “No,” she said, pushing the emotion away. “I just feel good
today,” she said. Sage looked at her skeptically but didn’t say anything more.
The day seemed to drag on and on. Talya couldn’t keep her mind on her subjects; all she could think about was her dream last night. She made it through the day, including study time with Sage, dinner with her grandparents, and her homework. Finally, it was time for bed. It took Talya a little longer to
fall asleep than usual; she was too anxious. She made herself relax and do breathing exercises.
Finally, she fell asleep.
The wolf wasted no time leading her to the wolf melding. She worked through four dreams,
practicing isolating details about the wolf. Who was the wolf? Where did it live? What was it feeling
and why? There were so many questions. Talya felt like she knew less each time she came out of a
dream than she had before she went into one. The night ended the same as the night before. She
blinked, and it was over. She was once again back in her bed, and it was morning.
The days passed in similar fashion. She couldn’t work at the diner because of her broken arm and
foot, so she threw herself into her studies during the day. She had to because of all the time she had
missed. At night, she threw herself into learning how to use her dream walking skills.
Life seemed to be settling into a predictable pattern, except for Brandon. She couldn’t figure him out. He seemed to think that she was his now. He always acted like they were a couple, even though Talya wanted nothing to do with him. She didn’t know why he bothered. She had made it
abundantly clear she wasn’t interested in him.
Eventually, six weeks passed. She was able to get her arm cast removed and move to a walking boot for her foot. Talya hugged the doctor when he finished. “Thank you so much,” she said to him.
‘How does it feel?” Sage asked as they walked out of the doctor’s office,
‘It feels a little funny, but it’s so nice to be able to walk again. So, I’ll take it,” Talya said with a smile.
“Let’s celebrate,” Sage said.
“Ice cream,” they both said at the same time. “I’ll pull the car up,” Sage said. Talya climbed into the

car Sage’s parents had given her for her birthday, and Sage drove them to their favorite ice cream
shop.
‘What are you wearing to the graduation ceremony?” Sage asked.
‘I don’t know,” Talya replied. “I haven’t even thought about it.”
‘Well, now that you are free from your casts, let’s go shopping. Let’s each get a dress for graduation–something we feel really good in. My treat,” Sage said.
‘You don’t need to do that,” Talya said.
‘I want to,” Sage said. “This is a big deal. We’re graduating high school. That only happens one time,
you know,” she said with a grin.
‘It does kind of sound fun, but I don’t want you to pay for it,” Talya said.
‘Talya, let me. I want to do this,” Sage said. Talya finally agreed. Sage’s parents had lots of money, so
she always had access to spending money.
They spent the rest of the afternoon trying on dresses. Sage chose a beautiful dark green dress that
was knee length that she looked beautiful in. Talya chose a soft pink dress with a v–neck that was
itted around the waist and then flared out, landing just above her knees.
‘Thank you for an amazing day,” Talya said to Sage.
‘You’re welcome. I had an awesome time too,” Sage said.
[alya disappeared inside and got right to work. She had two more weeks to finish all her assignments and get them turned in.
That night, when Talya reported for training, the wolf surprised her. “You’re going into the vampire realm tonight,” he said.
‘Really?” Talya asked, slightly terrified. “I mean I’m glad that I’ve progressed that much, but I’m scared it’s not enough.”
