I Ran From My Psycho Step-brother Straight Into The Alpha's Lap novel Chapter 174

**When Night Grows Softer Hope Returns To Lead Us by Asa Rowan Finn**

**Chapter 174**

Talya staggered back, her heart racing at the shocking sight before her.

Next to the creator vampire stood another figure, a second vampire, dark and menacing. The creator vampire emitted a chilling, mirthless laugh that echoed through the dimly lit space. “Did you honestly believe that the wolf was the only one capable of creation?” he taunted, his voice dripping with disdain.

“Allow me to introduce you to my latest masterpiece, my very own dream walker,” he proclaimed, a sinister pride lacing his words.

Before Talya could even gather her thoughts or attempt to dream walk to the safety of the wolf realm, the vampire lunged at her with a speed that took her breath away.

He seized her hair, yanking her head back with a brutal grip. Pain shot through her scalp, and tears sprang to her eyes as she cried out, desperately trying to focus, to dream walk, to escape. But it was as if her powers had been snatched away, leaving her vulnerable and helpless.

The vampire dragged her closer to the creator vampire, her neck craned painfully back so she was forced to gaze up at him. “I see what you’re attempting,” he sneered. “You think you can disable my transformation sites? It’s futile.”

Leaning closer, he whispered menacingly, “Would you like to know how I intend to thwart your plans?” His gaze flickered to the vampire holding her captive. “Turn her,” he ordered, his voice cold and commanding.

A wave of panic surged through Talya, flooding her chest like a tempest. Before she could react, a sharp, searing pain pierced her neck, and she screamed, the sound echoing in the stillness. In that agonizing moment, she felt her soul reaching out, yearning for Liam, her steadfast protector. “Liam!” her heart cried out in desperation.

Almost instantaneously, before she could fully comprehend the chaos unfolding, she was hurled aside. A massive brown wolf, fierce and powerful, launched itself at her captor. The sound of snarling and the clash of bodies filled the air. Talya watched in awe and horror as the wolf tore the vampire’s head clean off, a brutal display of raw power.

The wolf turned, its fierce gaze locking onto the creator vampire, who merely smiled with cruel satisfaction. Talya’s heart raced as she witnessed Liam’s wolf charge forward, but an unseen force held him back, preventing him from closing the distance.

Again and again, Liam’s wolf lunged, but each attempt was thwarted by an invisible barrier. “Liam!” Talya called out weakly, her voice strained with fear. The wolf growled one last time, then, sensing her distress, moved to her side.

In that moment, uncertainty washed over her, but she knew she had to act. Gathering her strength, she wrapped her arms around the wolf’s thick neck and concentrated, dreaming them both to the shifter realm.

The instant they arrived, she collapsed to the ground, her body spent and weak. The wolf made a comforting sound, nudging her gently with its powerful body.

“Talya,” she heard the wolf’s voice resonate within her mind. “You did well. You summoned Liam, the only one capable of protecting you. Now, I will send you back. Rest, my child. I won’t call you back until you’ve healed. Embrace Liam’s wolf, and he will return with you.”

With great effort, Talya lifted her weary arms and wrapped them around Liam’s wolf. The world around her began to fade into darkness.

When Talya opened her eyes again, she gasped, her breath hitching in her throat. She turned quickly to find Liam beside her, his expression a mix of concern and confusion as he shot up into a sitting position.

“Talya, what the—” he started, but she interrupted, her voice urgent.

“What happened to you, both of you?” she demanded, her heart racing.

“What is going on?”

“I’m giving you a shot of local anesthesia to numb your shoulder before I stitch you up,” Paul explained matter-of-factly.

“Do you have to? I really hate needles,” Talya admitted, her heart racing at the thought. She closed her eyes again, wishing desperately for this night to take a turn for the better. Now, she had to endure the sight of her own injury being stitched up.

The bed shifted slightly, and without a word, Liam gently lifted her, positioning her in front of him, between his legs.

“I’ve got you, baby,” he murmured in a soothing voice. “Just relax against me.” Talya leaned into him, finding solace in his strength, grounding herself amid the turmoil.

Looking up, she caught Garrett’s intense gaze, his eyes fixed on her, waiting for her to continue.

Closing her eyes once more, she leaned more fully against Liam, drawing comfort from his presence. “I don’t know how much you know about dream stasis?” she posed, gauging their understanding. The blank looks on Garrett and Max’s faces told her they were in the dark.

“Okay, so when I dream walk, I enter this dream stasis. Three realms exist there: the human realm, the wolf realm, and the vampire realm.”

She took a breath, trying to convey the complexity of her experiences. “The creator of the wolves resides in the wolf realm, and the creator of the vampires is in the vampire realm. I assume it’s the same for the human creator as well. Anyway, the wolf creator and the vampire creator cannot cross into each other’s realms.”

“Are you following me so far?” she asked, glancing at their unblinking faces. “Well, my role is two-fold. First, I act as a liaison to your pack from the wolf creator. I can communicate with you on his behalf. The second part of my job is to venture into the vampire realm. While I’m there, I sift through vampire dreams to unearth valuable information. Right now, I’m searching for the locations of the sites they’re using to attempt turning humans.”

“Within each realm, there exists a place where all dreams intertwine. It’s called a melding.” She began to explain her recent experiences, but before she could finish, pain shot through her once more. “Ouch!”
