**When Night Grows Softer Hope Returns To Lead Us by Asa Rowan Finn**
**Chapter 175**
Paul’s expression twisted into a grimace as he sat beside her, his brow furrowed with concentration. “I’m truly sorry, Talya. This is proving to be more complicated than I anticipated. Focus on Liam instead, okay? Just hold his hand tightly.”
Without hesitation, Liam extended his hand, intertwining his fingers with hers. Talya clung to him as if he were her lifeline, her heart racing as the reality of the situation seeped in. She attempted to concentrate on Liam’s comforting presence, but Paul’s meticulous work was a distraction she couldn’t shake off.
The sensation of being sewn up was visceral and unsettling, a reminder of her fragility. “Somehow, Talya pulled me into the dream with her,” Liam’s voice sliced through her haze, steady and reassuring. “When I arrived, I was in my wolf form. I killed the vampire who bit her,” he stated calmly, though Talya could sense the simmering fury just beneath the surface of his words. She squeezed his hand tighter, seeking solace in his strength.
“She wrapped her hand around my neck and transported us to the wolf realm where the wolf was. Then, just like that, she brought us back here.”
The room fell into an eerie stillness, the weight of their shared ordeal hanging in the air. Talya felt a wave of lightheadedness wash over her, compelling her to shut her eyes and breathe through it. “And I thought my power was impressive,” Emma’s voice pierced the silence, a lightness that felt almost misplaced. Garrett turned to her, extending his arm, and Emma stepped into his embrace, resting against his chest. He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to her cheek.
“I’m pretty sure your power still outshines mine, considering you can ensure the pack survives by finding them all mates,” Talya mumbled, her words slightly slurred, the medications beginning to take effect.
“Are you alright, Talya? I can’t believe everything you’ve been through. Garrett filled me in on all the details before I arrived,” Emma said, concern etched on her features.
“I’ll be fine, provided the doctor here stops treating me like a human pincushion,” Talya replied, irritation creeping into her voice. Paul chuckled softly, seemingly unfazed by her frustration.
“I’m sure the guys have a million questions, but did you at least manage to get enough done tonight so she can rest?” Emma asked, glancing over at Garrett.
“Yeah, get some sleep, Talya and Liam,” Garrett said, his tone firm yet gentle. “Thank you, Talya, for everything you’re doing for our pack. I don’t take your efforts lightly. Liam, I’ll need you to check in with me tomorrow morning.” Talya felt Liam nod behind her, a silent agreement. “Thanks, Paul,” Garrett said before guiding Emma out of the room, Max trailing behind quietly.

“Let’s get you ready for bed,” Liam said, positioning himself next to her. He reached forward, grasping the hem of her shirt.
“What are you doing?” Talya asked, a hint of confusion lacing her words.
“I’m just helping you get ready for bed. Please, allow me to take care of you tonight,” Liam replied, his tone gentle yet firm. Talya, too weary to protest, surrendered to his care. Once he saw her resolve fade, he carefully lifted her shirt over her head, being mindful of her injury. He pulled a soft tank top over her head and adjusted it gently. Turning her slightly, he lifted her shirt in the back to unsnap her bra. With a slight tug, she wriggled out of it, letting it fall to the floor. “I think your shorts are fine unless you want to change,” Liam said, glancing down.
“No, they’re fine,” Talya replied, each word feeling heavy as the painkillers began to take effect.
“Okay, let’s get you settled,” Liam said, guiding her to lie down before tucking her in snugly. “Will you stay with me tonight?” Talya asked softly, her voice barely above a whisper, a hint of vulnerability lacing her words.
