I Ran From My Psycho Step-brother Straight Into The Alpha's Lap novel Chapter 183

**When Night Grows Softer Hope Returns To Lead Us by Asa Rowan Finn**

**Chapter 183**

“Cell.” That single word was all that escaped Talya’s lips, but it was enough to set everything into motion. The air around her crackled with urgency as she heard Garrett’s voice rising above the chaos, barking out orders with a fervor she had never witnessed before. His anger was palpable, a storm brewing within him, and Talya could feel the weight of it pressing on her chest.

As they ascended the stairs, more wolves joined their ranks, their presence a mix of strength and ferocity. Liam was sprinting ahead, his powerful form a blur, and Talya struggled to catch a glimpse of who was with them. When they reached the next door, the group halted, tension thickening the air.

“More vampires just hit the southern edge,” a voice echoed, filled with urgency.

“Everybody knows what to do.” Garrett’s command cut through the murmur, and Talya felt herself being passed from one set of arms to another. She wanted to protest, to assert her independence, but her body felt like lead, too drained to fight back.

With great effort, she forced her eyes open, her vision blurry but determined. “Your mission is to get the girls into the helicopter and get them out of here. The rest of us will clear the path for you. Paul, you go with them to the helicopter. Wait.” Talya’s heart raced; she was confused about what they were waiting for. She glanced up at the man carrying her—he looked vaguely familiar, perhaps Ricky? But he didn’t meet her gaze; his focus was fixed on Garrett, his body tense with anticipation.

The moment Garrett signaled, chaos erupted. Someone yanked the door off its hinges, and the group surged forward like a tidal wave. Talya felt the rush of wolves surrounding them, their growls and snarls mixing with the sounds of battle that erupted all around. Vampires seemed to emerge from every shadow, their predatory instincts honed in on their prey. Talya’s heart pounded as she searched for Liam amidst the fray. It took a moment, but finally, she spotted him, his wolf form fierce and commanding as he and Garrett fought valiantly, tearing through their enemies with a primal ferocity.

Soon, the cacophony of battle faded behind them, and they sprinted toward the helicopter that loomed a few hundred yards away, a beacon of hope amidst the chaos.

Suddenly, everything changed in an instant. Talya felt herself lifted into the air, her surroundings blurring as she was thrown to the ground. Dazed, she looked up to see a towering figure—the vampire creator—looming over her, his eyes glinting with malevolence. “Did you truly believe I would allow you to escape, Little Dreamer?” he taunted, his voice dripping with disdain.

Adrenaline surged through Talya, banishing her weakness. She scrambled backward, desperate to put distance between herself and the monster. The man who had carried her transformed into a wolf, lunging at the vampire with a ferocity that made Talya’s heart race. But in a blink, the vampire drew a knife, slashing it across the wolf’s throat with a swift, brutal motion.

“No!” Talya screamed, her voice raw with anguish as she struggled to her feet, unsteady but fueled by rage. But it was too late; the wolf crumpled to the ground, and Talya’s heart shattered as she watched the life drain from him, blood pooling on the ground like a dark omen.

Two more wolves charged at the vampire, but he dispatched them with the same merciless efficiency. “I can keep doing this all day,” he sneered, his voice cold and mocking. “The silver keeps them from healing, in case you were wondering.” In a swift motion, he seized her hand, and before she could comprehend what was happening, they were far removed from the battle’s chaos.

“No!” Talya cried out, desperation clawing at her throat.

“Goodbye, Dreamer!”

“I love you, Liam. Please tell my grandparents I love them,” Talya sent out, closing the mental link before she could hear his response, but not before a wave of his rage washed over her. She shut her eyes, bracing for the killing blow. Suddenly, a force shoved her back, and she fell to the ground, her heart pounding in horror as she witnessed the knife plunge into the wolf from her dreams. “No!” she screamed, watching helplessly as the wolf stood for a moment longer before collapsing in front of her.

“No!” Talya cried out again, dropping to her knees beside him, tears streaming down her face. She was oblivious to the vampire now, her world reduced to the crimson pool spreading around the wolf. She pressed her hands against his wound, desperate to staunch the flow of blood. “You shouldn’t have done that,” she sobbed, feeling the weight of loss wash over her.

“Talya, it’s up to you now,” the wolf’s voice echoed in her mind, quiet yet powerful.

With tear-filled eyes, Talya looked into his. “I can’t,” she pleaded silently, her heart breaking.

“You can. This is what you were created for. It’s time to finish this. Take the knife.”

Biting back a sob, Talya reached out and yanked the knife from the wolf’s side, the pained sound he made echoing in her heart. She stood, trembling, determination flickering within her as she concealed the knife behind her leg, ready for the confrontation that awaited.
