I Regret Being Alpha’s Secret Mate novel Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Julian gritted his teeth against the agonizing pain racking his body and suddenly threw himself in front of me.

At the same time, Arthur Sterling lunged forward, pulling me into the safety of his arms.

A heavy, violent slap landed squarely on Julian’s face.

Instantly, blood sprayed from his nose. Having already endured over two hundred strikes from the heavy steel baton, his eyes were bloodshot He ground his teeth, his voice a low, lethal threat aimed at his own father.

“Don’t you… touch her!”

Then, his body finally gave out, and he collapsed heavily onto the floor.

The banquet hall erupted into chaos. Fortunately, someone had already called for help, and an ambulance arrived minutes later.

As Julian was loaded onto the stretcher, Richard Vance looked back at me. His gaze was filled with a hatred so sharp it felt like poison.

I stood there, trembling with shock, until Arthur took my hand and led me toward his car.

His grip tightened slightly on my fingers as he spoke in a low, soothing voice.

“It’s okay, Chloe. None of this is your fault. Let’s just go home.”

I took a shaky breath and nodded, still reeling from the violence.

But a short while later, my phone buzzed. It was a call from Beta Carter.

“Chloe, the Alpha wants to see you.”

I frowned, my voice cold. “No.”

“Chloe, wait! Alpha Julian said that if you truly won’t forgive him, then he wants to see you one last time. If you come, he’ll agree to finalize the Rejection and sever the bond completely.”

Hearing that I could finally be free of Julian Vance, I hesitated for a moment before agreeing.

But Julian insisted that I come alone.

I looked at Arthur. The Lycan King reached out and gently stroked my hair. “It’s fine. I’ll have my Royal Guards shadowing you. Whatever choice you make, I’ll support you. Don’t worry about me.”

An hour later, I arrived at the pack hospital and knocked on the door of VIP Suite 902.

The moment the door opened, a dark figure lunged out. Before I could scream, a heavy cloth clamped over my nose and mouth.

I was unconscious in seconds.

When I finally woke up, I was tied to a chair. Standing before me were several fierce-looking thugs I had never seen before.

“Who are you? Why did you kidnap me?”

The man in the lead let out a cold sneer.

“Why ask so many questions? You won’t be alive long enough to hear the answers, anyway.”

He reached behind his back and pulled out a jagged silver dagger, a bloodthirsty smile twisting his face.

“Someone from the old elite bought your life!”

“Ah!”

With a desperate surge of strength, I delivered a sharp kick to the man’s knee, toppling my chair over in the process.

I was fast. As the kidnapper lunged, I kicked the chair over with all my might to dodge the silver blade, narrowly avoiding a fatal strike.

But the situation was grim. The man recovered quickly, scrambling off the floor and charging at me again.

I rolled onto my knees, keeping the back of the chair between us to block another strike.

At the same time, I fought desperately against the ropes around my wrists.

Even though the ropes tore through my skin, leaving my wrists bloody and raw, the pain didn’t matter. Staying alive was everything. I’m Julian Vance’s mate! If you let me go, I’ll give you whatever you want. Name your price!”

I tried to bargain with the kidnapper.

To my surprise, the man just laughed mockingly. “You? A low-born Omega? You don’t have the right to bargain with me.”

His words confirmed my suspicion. I knew exactly who wanted me dead.

In all the territories, who else would dare to look down on Julian Vance and his mate like that? There could only be one person-Richard Vance Before I could think further, I was pinned against the wall.

The cold silver blade plunged straight into my abdomen.

“Kill me, and Julian will never let you get away with it!” I gasped, the air leaving my lungs.

The man’s eyes filled with a chilling malice. “Hmph. The money I’m getting is enough for me to hide in the neutral zones for the rest of my life. Just be a good girl and stop struggling. It’ll hurt less.”

My face turned deathly pale. I clutched my stomach, my body trembling uncontrollably.

I had no strength left. Blood soaked through my clothes, pooling on the floor beneath me.

‘Die!”

I closed my eyes in absolute despair.

Then, a deafening blast echoed right next to my head.

Something warm splashed across my face.

The kidnapper collapsed to the floor, his eyes wide with shock and confusion.

Through the blinding light of the doorway, a tall figure stood before me, a modern handgun held firmly in his trembling hands.

Julian?”

His lips were white. His upper body was wrapped in thick bandages, but the blood was already soaking through, turning the white gauze a terrifying, vivid crimson.

“Chloe… I’m here. Don’t be afraid.”

He dropped the gun and limped toward me. Seeing the blood dripping from my abdomen, Julian’s eyes turned red with agony. He frantically fumbled for his phone.

“The old warehouse about two miles outside the city! Send the medics now!”

I couldn’t hold on any longer. My body slumped against the wall as I slid slowly to the floor.

The next time I opened my eyes, I was met with Arthur’s profile. He was frowning, using the warmth of his palm to take the chill out of my IV line. The bridge of his nose cast a soft, gentle shadow over his face.

‘Arthur… Artie!”

Arthur turned toward me, his face filled with relief. “Chloe! You’re finally awake! I’ll go get the healer.”

Twenty minutes later, the doctor pulled back his stethoscope, his expression relaxed.

“She’s out of danger for now. It’s a good thing she was brought in when she was. Any later and the internal bleeding would have been fatal. A few more days of rest and she can be discharged.”

After the doctor left, I stared at the leaves drifting past the window before finally asking about Julian.

Arthur let out a long sigh.

“He’s the one who brought you here. He had been beaten with those steel batons over two hundred times… He was supposed to wait for his

I looked down. And… how is he?”

Arthur hesitated, his expression complex.

His spine is severely damaged. The healers say he might be permanently disabled. Not only that, but he’s facing lifetime imprisonment by the Royal Lycan Court for the fatal shooting.”

Hearing this, I felt a heavy weight settle in my chest, making it hard to breathe.
