Chapter 170

I laughed coldly at Lucian’s question about Selene.

This was the difference between love and possessiveness.

Lucian loved Willow; he was always concerned about her. I remembered Willow getting separated from Ayla at the mall.

Within minutes, he’d mobilized his contacts to search for them.

Chicago had been in a frenzy searching for Willow. That’s when everyone learned he wasn’t single and had a daughter.

Selene never received the recognition she deserved; Willow received it immediately.

How long had Lucian not seen Selene?

He could misunderstand me, distrust me because of the incident five years ago, believing I was a liar.

He could think whatever he wanted; I didn’t care.

But regarding Selene… if he’d shown her a fraction of the attention he gave Willow… if he’d ever truly cared about Selene, he wouldn’t be interrogating me, but investigating. He would know Selene was dead.

“Seren, speak!” Lucian’s face darkened, his anger consuming me. His grip tightened, threatening to break my wrist.

It hurt, but the pain couldn’t overshadow my heartache.

Every time I saw Lucian’s favoritism towards Willow and neglect of our daughter, it felt like a knife twisting in my heart. Selene was my precious baby, cherished for ten months. Why had he done this?

My gaze grew colder.

“What were you looking for Selene for?”

He was stunned, then composed himself.

“Of course, I missed her.”

“Huh.” I laughed coldly.”Lucian, do you say this without a guilty conscience? Thinking of Selene now? Not sooner, not later, but precisely when I decided to be with Ragnar?”

“Lucian, you never loved Selene; it was possessiveness. You couldn’t stand seeing me with another man; your chauvinism wouldn’t allow it. Even if you didn’t love me and despised me, as long as you’d slept with me, I’d be Lucian’s woman for life. Even if you grew tired of me, I should remain pure for you, right? Others can’t touch me?”

His lips tightened.

I smirked; I was right.

He’d thought so.

He’d targeted Selene because she cared about him; she’d listen to him. He believed that if he found her, she’d stand by him.

He controlled her by controlling Selene.

It was all calculation, never considering Selene’s feelings.
