Chapter 251
In the deep winter cemetery, the cold wind pierced to the bone.
My wolf shivered, but I didn’t feel the chill. My heart was a frozen wasteland.
I knelt before Aurora’s tombstone, staring at her sweet, innocent face etched in stone.
Guilt and grief clawed at me.
Even after cleansing the silver water, the knot of frustration in my chest remained, tightening with every passing moment
My heart ached for Aurora. For the immense hatred Ayla Garcia harbored.
Since discovering Ayla’s role in Aurora’s death, this burden had crushed me.
I’d wanted Lucian to see Ayla and Willow’s true faces, to feel the same sorrow I carried, to crave vengeance as I did.
But even knowing he now understood I hadn’t drugged him five years ago, that Aurora was innocent, that she hadn’t pushed Willow, he still was kind enough to them.
His promises to Aurora were hollow. He continued to favor Ayla and Willow, showering them with unconditional support.
‘Aurora, Mama failed you. Mama is so sorry!” I whispered, my voice choked with tears.
It had been so long; I hadn’t even avenged her. My uselessness gnawed at me. I hadn’t protected her in life, and now, even in death, she was still hurt, still tormented by Ayla.
The weight of it all pressed down, suffocating. My vision blurred.”Aurora,” I choked out, “You haven’t visited me in my dreams. Is it because you blame me for not protecting you?”
“Did you blame me for knowing who killed you but yet I did nothing?”
“Aurora, don’t be angry. I will avenge you, I swear it.”
My voice was soft but resolute. I wouldn’t let Ayla hurt my daughter again. Never.
I kissed Aurora’s picture on the grave, then stood, wiping away my tears.
A fierce determination hardened my gaze. I craved Ayla’s life.
My decision made, I turned to leave, only to bump into a security guard.
“Ms. Silvermane, I’m sorry, but the surveillance footage didn’t show who did it.” His apology was sincere.
He’d checked the footage, but whoever attacked Aurora was clever, using blind spots and avoiding patrols.
“Thank you, I murmured, no longer concerned about evidence.
My steps were light but firm. I got into my car and sped towards Ravenswood Apartments. My wolf throbbed with a primal hunger for justice.
Ayla left the cemetery just as she’d arrived-stealthily. She slipped into a waiting car, ignoring the wound on her forehead. The accelerator screamed as she fled the cemetery.
My recent erratic behavior haunted her. The words, “You killed Aurora,” echoed in her mind.
