Chapter 70
I swiped my access card and walked in.
At the moment I closed the door, I turned around to look again.
There was no one following outside the glass door.
Could it be the hallucination I had created out of my own suspicious mind?
I didn’t linger in place; I quickened my pace towards the elevator.
I entered the elevator and didn’t relax until the elevator doors closed.
The old elevator was very slow.
It took a while before I arrived at the floor where I lived.
The elevator door opened, and I walked out.
I walked quickly to the door, took out my key, and inserted it into the keyhole.
I opened the door and went in.
Just as I was about to close the door, a big hand “slapped” and suddenly grabbed hold of it.
A stranger’s face enlarged in front of me.
“Ah!” I screamed in fear. At the same time, I used both hands to push against the door, attempting to close it. But that stranger was rough and strong, with great strength.
He pushed hard, and I was pushed back several steps.
The man walked in confidently, “bang,” he closed the door.
I stumbled and steadied myself, without thinking, I pulled out my dagger from my bag and faced the approaching person, looking at him with a guarded expression. I shouted, “Get out! Otherwise, I will kill you!”
The stranger immediately leaned against the door, with both hands in a surrender gesture, and said in a sly manner, “Ms. Seren, don’t be nervous. I mean no harm. I came to you today to discuss a deal that you would be very interested in. It is about the death of your daughter.”
Upon hearing about Aurora’s death, my pupils shook fiercely, and I became so excited that my eyes welled up with tears.
Due to nervousness, my hand holding the fruit knife tightened slightly.
I tried my best to suppress the surging emotions in my heart, not allowing myself to lose control. “What kind of deal?
‘Give me one million dollars, and I will tell you who took your daughter’s medicine, causing her to die.”
“Okay.” I agreed immediately. Afterwards, I couldn’t wait and eagerly asked, “Who is that?”
