I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 33

Arthur grinned knowingly.

"Not a problem. I just pinged the medical officer. You can meet them in the conference room tomorrow morning to sort out your physician requests and details."

"Thanks," Finn replied.

"Don't mention it." Arthur typed a few more lines before glancing up. "I've been keeping the schedule open for you. Get your clearance sorted. We have several international routes next month. You good to captain them?"

Finn nodded, radiating his usual quiet confidence.

"Absolutely."

Arthur chuckled and handed him a form.

"Reinstatement confirmation. Sign here."

Finn took the paper, skimmed it, and signed his name.

His hand was perfectly steady as the pen hit the paper.

Just as steady as when he was at the controls of an aircraft.

"Finn," Arthur suddenly asked, leaning back in his chair, his tone shifting to something more casual. "Everything okay at home?"

"Everything's fine."

"Good to hear." Arthur didn't press further, slipping the document into a folder. "While you get up to speed, are you crashing at the apartments or heading home?"

"The apartments."

"Got it. Let me know once medical clears you so I can lock in your schedule."

Finn stepped out of the office and paused in the hallway.

Outside the window, the tarmac stretched out, several jets lined up and glowing under the golden hour sun.

Ground crew buzzed about. One of them caught sight of him and waved.

He gave a brief nod in return.

He stood there, watching the massive planes.

He had flown every single model.

He knew their specs, performance, cruising speeds, and maximum ranges by heart.

He knew exactly how long the flight to Frankfurt was and the specific air corridors required for a New York route.

He lingered there for a long time.

Finally, he turned and headed for the company housing.

For years, this was the only place his chaotic mind could find true peace.

The next morning, in the conference room.

The aviation medical officer was waiting, a thick stack of evaluation forms spread across the table.

"Captain Fletcher, per regulations, a leave exceeding thirty days requires a full physical. We've arranged it at St. Jude's Medical Center for next Wednesday."

"Thank you."

The officer slid the paperwork across the desk.
