Isaac's fingers twitched.
He shot Finn a knowing look but kept his thoughts to himself.
Taking the file Finn offered, he flipped it open.
Right there in the physician request box was the exact name he expected.
Sienna Sterling.
He closed the folder, a smirk playing on his lips.
It was a subtle, amused smile.
"Good luck with that."
Finn glared at him.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
Isaac shook his head, offering no explanation.
He just pictured how Zachary had been publicly eviscerated and sent scurrying away.
It dawned on him that this overstepping, boundary-pushing ex-boyfriend wasn't much different from Zachary.
They were both walking straight into a slaughterhouse.
"Nothing," Isaac said, handing the file back. "Off you go."
Isaac returned to his office, shut the door, and stood by the window.
Down below, Sienna was marching toward the staff room, her lab coat catching the breeze, looking utterly formidable.
He watched her, struggling to reconcile this brilliant, ruthless doctor with the desperately in-love girl Finn had just described.
What exactly had time—and heartbreak—done to her?
In the staff room.
Sienna stared blankly at her updated schedule.
She flipped through it twice to ensure she wasn't hallucinating, then marched straight to Director Dayton's office.
"Director Dayton, I'm assigned to the medical center this afternoon to examine a Global Air pilot?"
Dayton paused his typing and looked up.
His attitude toward her had drastically shifted lately.
Where he used to be dismissive, he was now overly cautious, terrified she might stir up drama.
"That's correct. Orders from the top. Global Air is a major client; having them use our facilities is a huge win. Is there a problem?"
