Left with no choice, Lance scrambled for an excuse.
"It's probably an urgent matter regarding Grant Fletcher or one of the major shareholders. Please bear with us for a moment. I'll go check."
"Of course, of course."
"Take your time, Mr. Fletcher is a busy man."
It was a true test of corporate diplomacy. Even if they were annoyed, no one dared voice a complaint.
The AC in the conference room was blasting, but Lance was sweating bullets. As soon as he stepped into the hallway, he yanked at his tie in frustration.
At the far end of the corridor, Finn was aggressively barking into his phone.
"Isaac, check the original copy right now. Sienna is waiting."
"I don't care if you're in a meeting! Everyone is in a meeting! Look at it right now!"
"Yes, Sienna's exam prep is the most important thing! Stop whining and hurry up!"
Lance nearly tripped over his own feet.
Sienna. Sienna. Why is it always Sienna?!
"Good. Send the photo to my phone so I can forward it to her," Finn said, finally sounding satisfied.
He turned around, typing furiously as he walked back.
Miles away, Sienna's phone chimed.
It was a crystal-clear image of the original notes sent by Finn.
That was fast, she replied, genuinely impressed.
If you have any other questions, text me anytime, Finn instantly shot back.
Sienna was on a strict timer for her mock exam.
She quickly fired back a 'Thank You' sticker, flipped her phone onto airplane mode, and tossed it aside.
Finn stared at the sticker on his screen, completely mesmerized.
It was an adorable little cartoon cat offering a rose.
He didn't even realize a massive, goofy grin had spread from ear to ear.
"Finn! You look absolutely psychotic smiling like that!"
Lance's furious, hissing voice shattered the moment.
